Kept telling people I was gonna get them to catch on. Now everybody is wearing them! The resorts are MANDATING people to wear them. Eventually, they'll just become normal ski wear once Saga and North Face start making Goretex masks and shit.
Which brings me to wonder... WHAT IF I STARTED THE CORONAVIRUS???!!!! By wishing that SARS masks would become mainstream ski wear?!!

The citing of the mortality rates by age is so commonly used to distort the narrative and make it seem way better than it is, so I'm gonna break it down for you.
Assuming you're between the ages of 18-24, then yes, that is the mortality rate for you (0.02%). But the average mortality rate in the US is 2.8%. And it's even higher in countries like Mexico, which is at a whopping 10.4%. I gonna assume that you're anti-lockdown and anti-mask. Assume that we lifted all restrictions in the US and that half the population gets it. With the current mortality rate, that's more than 9 million people dead just in the US alone. To put that into perspective, 6 million Jews were killed during the Holocaust. It would also be the equivalent of having a 9/11 worth of deaths every single day for 8.5 years.
So yeah, YOU are probably going to survive. But that doesn't mean it wouldn't be absolutely catastrophic. There are other people on this planet besides you.
Btw, that 0.004% number is wrong.

Vietnam supposedly has it under control too, but I cant be too sure of their honesty in regards to that - though they dont have a ton of border involvement with PRChina in the first place and closed their borders early, so Im sure theyre also doing okay all things considered...
All things told things are pretty under damn control at the time being and never hit the downright out of control levels that youre seeing in places like Florida...
Cases in Tokyo havent surpassed more than 400 or so new cases a day since spring (thats just 400 a day out of a population of 40,000,000 who all take the subway every day) - and even that would be a huge spike. Tokyo has nominally averaged about 200-250 a day. Osaka is about 100-150. Seoul is about the same - usually less. So even the highly dense cities have remained without massive outbreaks despite generally being 80-90% back to normal, but with far more mask usage than a year ago when it was only about 20% of the people - when people wore masks more as an anonymity garment than anything else...

zuesCrazy how unselfish Asians are over there. Good for them. all of CT has mask mandates and we've been pretty stable since May or June? but this shit still isn't going away like everyone thought it would. Wearing a mask definitely helps, but it doesn't just make the virus go away unfortunately.

It was a hell of a sickness but I mean I'm fine now. I was home alone for the whole time it sucked especially because I couldn't even do homework or video games without getting a massive headache.

The tests we have aren’t accurate. Most people are asymptomatic. A large majority of people who have gotten don’t have a strong enough viral load to even infect someone else.
