Experimenting with mounting points

I've ridden the mordecai 193 with the recommended -2cm mount and I've really grown to love it.

I just bought a pair of 193 mindbender 108ti, and I'm wondering if mounting them at reccommended at 9.75(?) would make the ski very fucking different to what I'm used to.

Would the ski feel change drastically if I mounted it at +2 of recommended?

+2cm is actually pretty much the sweet spot for that ski especially if you are used to a more forward mount on other skis.

+2cm from recommended. You would not want to really go too close to center on that ski so usually people reference recommended

I know I've had some Scandinavian kids want me to mount their skis +1 or +2 from true center. Shit's wild.

Tom, do you have any experience with mindbenders being mounted around plus 4 or 5? Similar to an On3p or moment rec point, Im curious to see how they ski 4 or 5 back from true center.

It varies alot on which model. I have my 116c skis mounted about +3cm from rec if I remember right and I have seen some of our athletes use them much further forward then that, but it will drastically change how the ski performs, which may be fine if this is just a big pow ski and nothing else but if you still want them to carve some groomers it may not be ideal.

you like yours at +3? I went factory and never seemed to desire more tail.

Yeah I way preferred them forward. I think I only did 2-3 laps on them before I moved them forward (demo binding) and found my sweet spot was about 3cm forward. Just made them easier to pivot fast for me and also felt better switch.

Yep, not a ton but the turned up tail and rocker along with a forward mount make it ok. No reckoner 122 but yeah it works

it was always Finnish kids, they ski urban switch more than forward apparently.

I mounted my Kartel 108s +1. They are by far the best I've ever skied on. When it comes down to it a couple cm in either direction doesn't make too drastic of a difference, but usually when a company has a recommended of -2 or -4 then the top of the camber will typically be pushed back a centimeter or two. At the end of the day it doesn't make a huge difference, but I do like the feel of +1 as far as I can tell. Maybe it's a placebo or something.
