I think people who actually pay taxes and are middle class actually like Trump because his policy has helped them. I'm included in this group. If you think his short comings are his temper and petty attitude that's really not that bad of a thing when he's making you money in the stock market and lowering your taxes. Most people can look past the childish behavior if their economic well being is improving.

Although many will deny it, Trump has always had the mindset that Covid isn’t a risk, and so his supporters think that as well. So of course they’re going to congregate in masses without masks. Trumps been encouraging that. The only reason you’re not seeing rallies like that for Biden is because he has established that Covid is a risk and everyone needs to do their part in stopping the spread. And what do ya know his supporters reflect that mentality. That’s called influence and that’s why a president is not allowed to say that Covid will magically go away and that the environment will magically get colder. People will believe that.
Can anyone realistically see Trump winning at this point? He one solely on the backs of swing voters in 2016. I get that Trump has done a lot of good for trade and foreign relation policy, in fact I’ve supported many of his moves. But his shortcomings are also far too great to ignore and the swing voters see that. The real issue is Biden is not an objectionable radical socialist like the right wing conservatives want him to be. Kamala is a different story but reality is Biden is a likable moderate and swing voters know that. I just can’t see trump keeping/gaining votes from 2016.

It seems like for a lot of people it come down to what their primary concern is.
If it's the economy people seem go for trump, if its environment, womens rights, healthcare then they go for biden.
Personally my belief is that no matter how good the economy is it is temporary. I'd rather focus on things that could have a detrimental affect on future generation like pollution and the environment. I might be thinking differently if I was financially struggling.

Covid caused a scare for sure, but after that 5-7 days of straight selloff I've pretty much gained it all back. Also Bought into the market just after that covid selloff with some cash I had in my account. Definitely made some gains in Tesla and Apple stock which I pulled out right before they split, looks like it was pretty damn good timing. Used the proceeds for a new car.

I don’t think that his point is to “magically fix it” because we all know that’s impossible. I’m pretty sure he’s just saying that he doesn’t mind helping others if he can and doesn’t understand why not everyone feels the same. Sorta off topic but I grew up farming. Farming is pretty socialist and idealistic in most of its forms, but it is a job taken on mostly by conservative individuals which I find sorta intriguing. If there's a crop blight in the area, and it's on your neighbor's property, you go help them fix it. Even though it doesn't affect you now, it eventually will so it's worth investing time and money into your neighbor's farm so their issues don't become yours. Or your crops could never get the blight, but it's not worth the risk. That's the idealistic side of it. On the socialist side of things, unless you are a super farm, you make no money. Small to midsize farms would never survive without the government regulating prices and giving them money, leases, and a myriad of other "handouts". Yet without those small to midsize farms tens of thousands would be out of a job and it would have a substantial effect on agricultural industries.

Just because something doesnt directly affect him doesnt mean he cant care about it an try to do what he can to help the people that it does hurt.
I guess I will be one of those "have no brain" liberal people because I believe that we should do what we can to better society and help others. It just sucks that the government is fucking terribly inefficient with it However I do believe our society is better off than if we left everything to people voluntarily helping people and donating.
The partisan divide isn't helping things become more efficient either since one party will always be doing whatever they can to make the others policys fail.

My analogy was more towards the “you can be conservative and still help people” and was trying to loop in my response to the first kid by equating my farm equipment and labor to paying taxes (if that makes sense).
As for your second point, I don’t think it is some sort of socialism. It’s the farmers land. It’s the farms crop. The government doesn’t control the means to production, the individual does. And the free market (and a little good or bad luck) will dictate the fate of the farms. Because of consumerism and the free market a lot of those farms slowly fell out of competition. That’s the way she goes. If people cared more about where their food came from these farms would be doing better. But they don’t. The vast majority of people don’t give a fuck, they just hit up the supermarket and buy cheap food ( a lot of which is imported from other countries) because it’s more convenient.
I live in a state that used to have a booming dairy industry. It’s in shambles now. But I worked (at a previous job) with some of these farms. You know what they did? They pivoted. There was a demand for locally raised beef and so they left the dairy industry and moved to raising beef. That’s what it takes sometimes.
So long story short, no, I don’t think the government should intervene with a struggling farm (short of say some national emergency). It’s not their responsibility.

LonelySorta off topic but I grew up farming. Farming is pretty socialist and idealistic in most of its forms, but it is a job taken on mostly by conservative individuals which I find sorta intriguing. If there's a crop blight in the area, and it's on your neighbor's property, you go help them fix it. Even though it doesn't affect you now, it eventually will so it's worth investing time and money into your neighbor's farm so their issues don't become yours. Or your crops could never get the blight, but it's not worth the risk. That's the idealistic side of it. On the socialist side of things, unless you are a super farm, you make no money. Small to midsize farms would never survive without the government regulating prices and giving them money, leases, and a myriad of other "handouts". Yet without those small to midsize farms tens of thousands would be out of a job and it would have a substantial effect on agricultural industries.
