CatdickBojanglesJust ordered a set of Daymakers to do some uphill travel. I'm on the east coast so my tours will be limited to resort and nothing long. Mainly just for the extra exercise and trying something new. I won't have the most ideal set up but just to start I don't think it will be bad. Here's my long list of questions:
1. What skis should I use? (Jeffrey 96s, Vishnu Wides, or Hellbents)
2. Should I worry about the skin glue affecting the ski I choose? (They won't be used exclusively to tour)
3. What skins should I go with? (Currently looking at Big Sky Mtn Products)
4. Should I just look for a lighter ski and binding set up 2nd hand for cheap?
5. Final question touring in FT First Chair 10s any advice?
Any and all advice is much appreciated
1. Whichever of the Jeffrey and Vishnu is lighter, it might be the Vishnus.
2. No, wax em if they get slow.
3. I like Pomoca if you can get em cheap. I had the glueless ones (Faction branded) and loved them, they took away a ton of hassle and I never had any issues. Also, Big Sky Mtn look dope, I know nothing about them but I trust CY to know his shit more than most.
4. Nah, Daymakers aren't a light option in the first place so don't worry about a 100g here and there.
5. They'll be fine, you can take the tongues off if you want, but i tour on the Full Tilt/Daymaker combo a fair amount and it's fine. If you do tour a lot and enjoy it, get a touring boot though, it makes a difference. If you fit Full Tilts, the Roxa R3 130 is fairly close in fit to the FT Soul Shell.
