Best Skins for ON3P

I have some 186 Kartel 108's and I watch to start skinning this year. Gonna get some daymaker touring adapters but I haven't ever skinned. What skins would you suggest for these skis?

Just get some trim to fit -skins. Nylon or nylon + mohair skins are great for beginners. I personally have good experiences with black diamond and kohla.

buy and use the g3 tool to cut the skins nomatter which ones you get. makes it foolproof. you want your edge exposed.

Personally, I have used the G3 alpinist+ glide and had no problem.
Your edges should be exposed once the skin is trimmed.

Cheapest option is big sky mountain products skins, they’re decent but not the best skins I’ve used, the glue is hard to pull apart and they don’t pack down small but get the job done for like half the price of other skins.

my personal favorite skins are pamocas because the glue is easy to peel apart, they’re light and pack down really small. But they are also twice the price.


If you’re only going to skin occasionally You can definitely got with the cheaper options. At minimum get a skin that is the waist width or wider of the ski they are going on, most of your grip comes from underfoot of the ski.

Take an avy coarse and get a beacon probe and shovel

I think he might've just meant skinning up his local hill inbounds but not sure.

If he is doing backcountry touring he should definitely take avy courses and get the needed gear

I plan on doing backcountry and I am getting my avy this winter :)

I love how people rush to assume shopping for skins means he isn’t aware that he needs the other gear and training too. Give the dude some credit haha

I have the BD ascension nylon ones on my K108s and they’ve treated me well for a couple seasons now. They come with a trim tool so you can buy bigger and maximize base coverage. Treated me better than my G3’s before that.

pomoca skins are lighter, thinner and have better traction than any other brand just more expensive.

Whatever you get make sure have money left to buy some actual touring bindings when you realize how fucking terrible daywreckers are...

Highly suggest Bigsky, I run them on my surfaces and they are solid as hell.. the jungle graphic is dope too

I just trimmed a pair of BD Acensions on my Woodsman 108s. The tip is a bit wider than my K108s that I just ski as a daily driver sometimes but they fit pretty seamlessly.
