I need to get mittens without finger separators because I have to buddy tape my pinky to my ring finger for 6 weeks starting thanksgiving. I currently have hestras with finger separators and I like them. I need recs thanks a lot.
The Oven Mitts I have do not have finger slots, but same as above, I got them a couple of years ago. I doubt they've changed that, but I'm sure Flylow could clear that up if you email, DM them, or give them a call. But yeah, I think the Oven Mitt is a good deal if you don't want finger slots

I read a fair amount of bad reviews on the oven mitts concerning warmth and durability. They will probably do alright for december in Utah but I want to explore my options.
I just picked up a pair of crab grab mittens last season. Didn't get to use them but they seem like they'll be a good mid-priced synthetic leather mitten, and they come with wrist straps and no finger dividers.
Why have I never heard of this before? Finger slots defeat the purpose of a mitten thus not true mitten and only for appearance. Wtf. We should make a thread with a running list of actual mittens.

Ngl the mittens with finger slots are 1000x better. Way more warmth than normal mitts and you don’t lose the sty. Once you try mittens w slots you probs wont go back

yeah, i was a little surprised when i realized how many mittens have finger slots inside, but i think i take the companies' word for it when they say it keeps things warmer in there.
i understand the dismay though, especially because if i'm wearing a mitten it's because it's colder than a witch's tit and i am likely looking to wear a liner glove or something shoved into a big mitt. in that case i think you're right that maybe OP should just go look at walmart or something like that to find some big warm mitt made for casual winter people which will almost certainly not have finger slots and then he can jam whatever he needs to in there
Nope. A glove gives the impression of free movement. Having finger slots surrounded by a cloth bag restricts finger movement. My hands told me this so don't take my word for it. You'll have to ask them.

I actually enjoy the separators for the moisture wicking they provide once it warms up a bit. As far as for when it's balls cold, the difference is negligible

Same. I initially thought they defeated the purpose of mittens as well, but (1) there's no outside air separating your fingers like a glove, and (2) my hands sweat so much more without dividers, which in turn makes my hands colder without them. Plus, it gives just a bit more dexterity; trying to work a camera with a regular mitten is near impossible for me, but mitts with dividers actually work pretty well.
