Replying to Street Skis
I've been pretty into street specific skis recently and had a question I was hoping some of you could help answer. Would it be possible to make a summer specific street ski? I've looked at the B-dog Edgless, Vishnus, Magnus's, Blends and while these are all jibby street skis, none of their constructions are designed around skiing street without snow as far as I know.
If you took the edgeless idea and combined it with elements of each other street skis, do you think it would be possible/worthwhile to make a ski without edges, and sidewalls, instead replacing them with cap construction. Giving them some crazy mustache rocker, and providing enough stability on the tips and tails to lock into nose and tail presses, but still maintaining a low enough swing weight to make them jib friendly. Another issue I found with this concept is base material. Skiing concrete, rails, rocks, grass, and whatever other non snow material will eventually tear up the bases of current skis. Could replacing that with a harder material, improve the durability of the skis, while sacrificing a bit of speed?
Ideally the proposed skis would almost function as mini trampolines strapped to your feet, allowing for street rails to be hit without building lips in both the summer and winter, with just a banshee bungee or some natural speed.
