In the new Saga thread someone mentioned how they cut their jacket and turned it into a vest and I am the king of taking a perfectly fine piece of clothing and fucking it up so im curious to see everybody’s ski gear modifications whether its on outerwear or actual gear.
Heres some of my own innovations:
Always wanted grab tabs on my poles after I saw the line pins when they came out and im cheap af so I took a metal ruler, cut it down to rough size, drilled a hole through it and stuck it in my grips. Functionality- 10/10 , looks 4/10
I tried cutting holes my tall t few years ago to make it look jagged and after a couple it looked okay but since I have autistic tendencies I started cutting way too many holes and ruined my shirt (which i’ll never forgive myself for)
And that hood was floral and I wanted it black so I just used fabric paint and its gonna turn out good once I finish ( i hope)

metal ruler? that sounds straight up dangerous. It’s like skiing park with a homemade whippit. Wonder how well that idea would hold up for self arrests though lol

Hahahaha ya it was dangerous but I grinded the edges and made them round so they can’t cut anything
FitzRoyU can do the grabtab thing with less stabbing tendancies if you fold the pole strap like this
300 iq plays
I have a friend who bought his bindings without brakes but instead of buying brakes, he tied string to the binding and to his boot like the thingy you use on snow blades lmao
BLandzPost a pic this thread turned into everyone roasting my shitty poles, you deserve it too since your idea sounds equally as crazy
I don't think you'd have any idea unless you had the same boot. Would highly recommend to anyone with some extra space who doesn't feel like they get enough stiffness.

For the record I love how psycho your pole idea is
elm.

I tape coins and cut up surgical rubber bands (the flat ones) to my liners to get a better fit. Saves money and a trip to the store when your liner starts to pack out as you just add more coins.
not really but kinda a gear mod... my old V’s binding holes were sub par, so I put mixed baking soda and loctite and put them in the holes to make a super hard composite material, then re drilled into the substance and mounted the screws in. Honestly worked better than heli coils and I’ve never had a tighter fit when I put the screws back in.

Thats actually sick did you break the original buckle or did it actually not come with one. Seems like it def should have 4 buckles
I use hockey tape on my gloves to prevent wear from the rope tow. Seen guys go through gloves because of this, I've spent maybe $4 on a roll of hockey tape instead of $75 on new gloves,

they're a feature Line has on their poles that's supposed to help keep the pole in your hand when you do grabs. i think they're just another Line gimmick but clearly people disagree on that
My left foot/ankle shin it a decent amount smaller than my right and rather than get booster straps or take my boots in for work, I just tie a shoelace super tight around the top part of my liner.
...I really dont think it works but it makes me feel better.
1NF1N1T3I took the buckles off my helmet to save space with my bc setup
what do you mean, you took off the buckles? like you removed the strap and/or the buckle that holds it onto your head? or you removed some extraneous part?

The buckles that go under your chin
my helmet stays on fine
Here’s my Snow Pants. It’s a simple AF concept. Snow pants inside for tech purposes, carharts outside for style & sagging. Super warm. Super durable. The sag is beyond gangster haha

functionality 10/10 until you impale yourself on those sharp edges
