ARV vs ON3P vs J-Skis

Bout to pull the trigger on new twigs for the upcoming season. I’ll be skiing Mount Snow & Killington mostly and am looking for a 70% park 30% all mountain weapon. I’m looking at ARV 96s, ON3P Magnus 90s or 102s, & the J ski allplay.

im 175 lbs @5’11

slightly biased towards ON3P because I love my Jeffery 108s but idk if the rocker profile will suck in the icy north East.


I also get 40% off MSRP on Armada

for bindings I’m thinking sth2-13s

haven't checked the ON3P site in a sec but they sell out realllll quick for the sizes, styles, and underfoots i like but hell if you find what you went ride that wave. I got some ARVs and i love em, they're just a little short for me but fuck are they aerodynamic, damn near anti-gravity. I actually just copped some new All Plays this year, the wild custom topsheet ones, can't tell you yet how they ride but damn am i stoked - check out Zahner and Iceberg Simpson if you wanna see vids of them in action. You got good taste guy

From experience:
ON3P's park detune establishes no edge underfoot. The edges are rolled over providing very to little capabilities to carve.
I love ON3P skis, however the detune is almost too good for me (super solid on rails).
I also live in New England and skiing them on ice is suicide.

ARV 96 sounds like a really good choice, same with the Allplay.
Also if your getting that deal to Armada, you should probably go with ARV 96.

If you like the Mag email them and ask to hold a pair before they do the detune, they did it for me. Super cool people and A1 communication. The ARVs are good skis too, I got a buddy who skis Sunday River exclusively on the ARV 106. Mainly a park guy, but he shreds them everywhere and won’t shut up about them (cuz I got them for him at -55% MSRP). No experience with J Skis personally but JLev is very responsive and I’m sure he’d answer any questions you have since they’re based in Vermont. Got another friend who has 6 pairs of skis and they’re all Js so that’s gotta mean something.

New Englander here who rides on3ps.I ski wildcat and mount snow on a 181 magnus 102 at 5,8 180, but I 'm rarely skiing all mountain on a icy day. Anything that you ski rails with is going to have no edge so no difference between them on ice. I'm a big fan but will probably switch to a jeff 96/102 or woodsman as I am moving to less rail time.

I'd recommend getting at least a 181. If you get an all mountain ski that you want to riiiip then go 186. You wanna butter go mag, you want something stable and requires more energy go Jeff 96/ 102.

@JC_PEI swears by the Magnus 90 skiing exclusively east coast. He's told me they are by far his favourite skis ever.

with 40% off probably armadas? I’ve had arv’s and you can’t really go wrong with them.

With that being said, I myself am actually going to try out some allplays this year

I had the mag 102s and the edge detune is very aggressive basically no edge underfoot and it slays in the park but outside the park I found myself going for my Jeffreys. I also had the All Plays and loved them pretty soft and the rocker in the tail makes them easy to wash out if you land back seat but they do rip everywhere and are a blast to ski. Never had the ARVs but I had the dollos and they are super fun too. If you can save the money go for the Dollos.

Thanks for considering The Allplay! You'll be stoked on it for skiing Carinthia / Killington. At your height & weight you could definitely ride 178cm or 184cm depending on what your preference is on length.

Detune on them is insanity i had a pair but sold them before even mounting them and got Jeff’s because the detune is so hardcore the edge is so round

Ski them once then get an aggressive tune if you don’t like the detune. Provide some more edge

it makes wayyy more sense to do this the other way around, its easier to detune a ski than to tune a totally rounded edge
