Help with drill bit size

I’m a tech haha it’s not on the ski, just didn’t know if anyone had the information. Never mounted a pair of them so I didn’t wanna fuck it up. My k2 rep didn’t know so I figured I’d see if anyone here had experience

Thanks brotha. Took me 5 years to hunt a pair down, I had a 179 and a 189 but I sold the 179. The 189s were brand new, some guy in NC had been hoarding them for himself but sold em on eBay and I snagged them

3.6x9mm will be the most common size and what most shops will use. Unless the ski is metal (which the obsethed isn't) in which case they'll use a 4.1x9mm bit.

If you're buying your own bit try looking for a nice step bit, which will be 3.6/4.1x9mm. The lower portion of the hole is smaller with the top portion being larger. This allows for less chance of holes valcono-ing over time as well as making the screw go in easier initially then still requiring a good hand tightening once in further, which usually translates to less of a chance of stripping the hole. None of that is necessary of course but it is a nice thing to have.

I use a step bit at my shop as it also doesn't require us to buy 4.1x9mm bits for metal skis, as the step bit will work with anything essentially.

Just go to the hardware store and look for any bit in the proper size, I like using TiN coated (the gold ones).

9mm depth for adult bindings

Step bits are the shit! If you are going to but a bit, that is the way to go.
