Ever had a douchebag crash into you on skis or bike?

Ooooo I'm still heated. So started off today super stoked. Bike arrived early so rather than riding old shit bike, got to ride my new one. Perfect weather. Great route.

So I'm on mile 40 of 50 and the trail is starting to get busy. I'm approaching a left curve just before a bridge with no where to bail out. People walking towards me on opposite side. All of a sudden this guy on a road bike all decked out in spandex decides he's gonna pass these people on a blind curve and continues to watch them as he's passing and coming directly towards me. Mind you I'm on the very edge of the path. I'm yelling "LOOK OUT LOOK OUT LOOK OUT... FUCK!" As this douche bag proceeds to crash into me. I had come to a complete stop the moment before we collided. Thankfully his handlebars hit mine, tire hit the center of my frame and we head butted. The guy had the dumbest fucking look on his face" uhhh u ok"... Yeah dipshit what the fuck r u doing!?! As soon as I realized nothing was fucked with my brand new bike "get the fuck outta here dude". Ughhhh fucking morons. He wasn't the only idiot on the trail but certainly the first and only time I've ever crashed.

Anyone have any good stories? I think I'd lose my shit if someone crashed into me skiing. This isn't a difficult concept

Glad to hear your bike is okay, what a cocky guy. I'd say you were pretty lucky to have been paying attention and ride away without any damages or injuries.

Have had some people fall into me in lift lines, I'm usually pretty humble about that stuff though and help 'em up. Usually beginners, I've been there.
Once I had some jerry dad "accidentally" ski into me after yelling at me for riding park in the park, apparently setting a bad example for his kid. Scratched my topsheet, he ate it, liftie saw it all happen, I'm just happy it didn't turn into a he said she said situation and end with my pass getting revoked.

I get so aggravated when spandex cyclers ride in the middle of the road. I live in a rural area that only has 2 lane roads, sometimes with no shoulder, and these fuckers will ride in the center of the lane on 50mph roads as if my truck won't push their bike seat through their asshole and out their forehead.

I know in the grand scheme of things it doesn't really matter; at most it's just a minor inconvenience for me to wait til there's no oncoming traffic to pass them, but god damn it annoys the fuck out of me.

I watched this dude charge a section of multi-use trail I was hiking up. We made eye contact and he didn't even attempt to slow down so I stood my ground. He clipped my arm with his handlebars and endo'd into the bushes lmao 'oh uhhhhh sorry uhhh are you okay?' He said.

Another time, climbing some bullshit techy switchback on my mtb and this guy does the same thing, I stand ground and we clip handlebars. I say the fuck dude?! Pissed cuz I had to stop where I'd otherwise clear it And he says dh riders have the right of way LMAO yeah on one of the boulder county's most popular multiuse trailsystems where there's signs everywhere... sure dude.

Idk maybe I'm just a huge doucher with a chip on my shoulder but bikes really should yield to everything, especially when going downhill.
*unless of course it is designated downhill-only bike trail, of course

Fucking stravassholes ruin it for all mountain bikers

one time an out of control snowboarder ass slid like 25 yards down the park in PC and he took my legs out from behind while I was waiting to drop in. Happened closing weekend so he was no doubt drunk but goddamn get your fucking shit together. He just dipped after he took me out, didn't say sorry or anything.

I saw 2 old guys drop into the same bowl at the same time and have a very minor collision and neither of them got hurt. Just a classic miscommunication error at an intersection in the park where this kind of collision happens often. The one guy Josh got up and started going off on the other guy named George who is like this 60 year old skater dad who is the nicest guy at the park. Everyone thought it was a joke cause all the old bowl guys are homies but Josh was completely serious. George tried to apologize to Josh but he wouldnt have it and threw a hissy fit and went home. Even Josh's friends tried to lighten him up but he was still pissed. We all just kinda stood there dumbfounded and my one little homie just said “what the fuck that still happens when youre 60?”

went for a walk in downtown park city w/ my family and we had our little baby niece with us and this dude was zipping down pedestrian walkways on his brandnew XC bike or a demo and nearly clipped a few people including my sister holding her baby in a chest harness. no bell or signal or anything, and then we called him out to tell him to slow his ass down and he just replies with "I dont need to, I live here" lol. Hope that dude zips it on out into a busy intersection one day and hope the cars stop for him cuz hes a local.

When I was in college I would rip around on a fixed gear bike and try to get around on campus with my hands on the bars as little as possible, shifting my weight to steer the bike through crowds of people and shooting gaps between people. On days that I rode my mountain bike I would shoot gaps between groups of people while riding on the rear wheel. In 4 years of pulling this kinda shit I crashed many times, but never hit anyone but myself, except for one time this fucking douchebag sees me coming to the center of campus where it is most crowded, I see my line through the crowd and as I get near this cowboy boot wearin', MAGA hat dude he fucking steps like 5 feet out of his way to shoulder check me and I get sent careening off line and almost crash into this gal studying on a bench, but caught myself.
So I guess I was that douchebag speeding through crowded spaces on a bike, but the only time I ever crashed into someone it was because they were being the asshole.

Really? Other way around for me.
I've had plenty more bad experiences with skiers/boarders than mtb'ers, one reason why over the last few years I've started to prefer the sport and the summer season in general.

Okay, there's the odd arrogant kid who has a more expensive bike than my car and thinks they're god's gift, but 99.99% of the mtb community are super chill and I've never had any direct altercations.

I disagree with this behavior. I mean sure all DH bikers should yield to people hiking/biking up hill but you saw him coming and instead of stepping to the side for 10 seconds you decided to block the trail causing a crash. I think you're both in the wrong in this situation.

The way I look at it, if I were an elderly man or woman, or had a disability that didn't enable me to move quickly while hiking in the outdoors, it wouldn't be my responsibility to jump out of the way on a trail system that is clearly marked that bikes must yield to anything.

It's the principle of the matter and about setting expectations. The moment someone makes an effort to slow down I get out of their way if I'm hiking. Not about to be considerate for inconsiderate people sorry fam

If he didn't make an effort to slow down I totally see your point. Can't have bikers ripping down hill expecting people to move out of their way.

I disagree with this, I definitely agree that bikes should yield but IMO the person climbing should yield, it's so much easier for a person climbing to stop vs. person ripping a descent and having to slam on the brakes potentially endangering themselves and others around them so a hiker can walk past at 2 mph. So easy for a hiker to move slightly to the side of the trail and the rider to slow up a bit and everyone says thanks and goes on their way.

Couple things with that. You should ride within the bounds of your eyesight, if you're ripping shit blind where you can't see and can't slow down if there's an obstacle on a multi use trail, you're wrong.

It is also way harder to start pedaling up tech than it is to ride down. Loosing all your momentum and having to push up a hill to where you can start pedaling again sucks nut.

Keep your head up, don't rip into shit blind, and ride within your limits. Not being able to slow down in time on a trail that my grandparents would hike is wack.

Again, this is for multidirectional multi use hills. If you don't want to worry about people riding up your descent go to a bikepark

I ride with a Timber Bell and I definitely always slow down and am prepared to stop for uphill traffic, but when uphill people hear the bell most of the time they get off trail. Sometimes it makes for awkward interaction when both parties stop to let each other pass but it is nice to have the peace of mind that you can passively announce your presence. Goddamn that thing is loud though, pretty fun when you get in the air and it stops ringing until you get tires back on the ground

I have two perspectives on this. If you're some rando on a mountain bike from Walmart swerving back and forth riding 5mph, then yeah get on the sidewalk. If you're a road biker, just stay to the side. I really only get annoyed when people ride in the center of the road and don't leave room to pass, and they're going like 10mph on their road bike.

it was super scary cause they had one of those little white dogs off leash and it was just running on and off the trail while I was riding

I was at a stop light once and I guy tried that but couldn't fit between my mirror and the cars next to me mirror, then the light turned green and left and in my rear view mirror I saw him just sitting there in pain. Justice was served

Its 100% their responsibility if they get hit. If they think they can make it through without fucking up traffic and their flow I say send it.
