SkiBum.It’s already happening. I live in Park City. Past 6 month home sales are skyrocketing. Second and third homes are now primary homes. I’d assume the same is happening in other ski and mountain towns.
This. I work for one of the private club developments and real estate + land sales are waaaay ahead of their anticipated forecast along with homes that are rarely occupied maybe a week out of the year being full-time residences now. Its like its own 2nd town up here, its crazy. And our golf course is essentially a municipal one though its pricey greens fees or membership only, so people are not looking to stop recreating any time soon up here. PCMR/Canyons are gonna be hella busy this season, and theyre workforce is fucked if they get a rush on top of that lol. Maybe they'll all go ski Deer Valley instead.
skiminnesotaI was too worried about not being able to get a reservation last minute at PC so even though i can see canyons from my window, no epic pass for me this year.
skeirmanYeah, would think a lot of people would do same but nope.
I think most people who just moved here for whatever reason or the many 2nd/3rd homeowners who are now permanent residences are going to buy passes, along with some already-existing full time residents, but atleast for me, ive been here a while and have had plenty of good winters already so its NBD sitting this one out a little bit and skiing the resorts a few times a month maybe w/ a 10-pack or something. some skiing is better than none but at least at the other resorts, its still absurd what theyre charging even with pass insurance and a refund option. thats a deposit that can be used for touring gear or other things. Maybe theyll offer late-season pass options which would be cool. Skiing from Nov-Jan is going to be wack anyways
