ThAtDuDeNaTeI ski with a mask on most of the winter anyway because of the icy winds, so i bought my pass, and i personally will be doing the same thing as always. I'm interested to see what the crowd will be like. Or if the high school racing season gets cancelled.

mystery3Purchased our passes a couple months ago, smaller local hill less driven by tourism so hopefully it will all work out and we'll get many days (and nights) in and have a nice long season.

I moved to Vancouver from the Bay Area over the summer and am pumped to be three hours closer to skiing and two hours closer to world-class skiing up at Whistler.

No.QuarterProbably gonna buy one and then maybe consider getting a refund depending on what the operation plan is.
I usually ski solo and I've heard rumors that some weird restrictions may be in place regarding chairlifts.

Anyways, I’m seriously considering buying a season pass this year. If resorts are limiting sales, doesn’t that mean that lift lines will be short and that lodges (if accessible) will be less packed?

I feel like COVID may have subtly given a gift to the midweek / night shredders… maybe even the weekend warriors too.

What do you all think?

wolvie silver/days are still a sub 1/2 hour skin out the gate
the gates open or access out is granted still bout 70-80% of the time
Egp and the honeycomb git skied more and tracked out faster
but the guild lines/limber pines gate is still more sidesteps than most people will do
i still have free parking and access to my bros condo
and im still skiing it all on someonelses dime
so your idea of ruined
is way different than mine

No.QuarterLike social distancing on chairlifts. So like a 3 person chair can only have 3 people on it if they are in the same party. Solo skiers will have to ride a 3 person alone. And social distancing in lift lines. Similar to how restaurants are operating, but it's all just rumors at this point.

Anyone skiing in the southern hemisphere recently or anyone riding bike parks this summer have input on what regulations were put in place?

That's insane. I'd never expect that so close to a major city. I had no clue it used to be like that. You don't think it has anything to do with the insane population grown of Utah over the past 10 years which leads the nation? Or did it not start getting busy til every Dick, Tom, and Harry found out that it even existed and happened to be in line with the IKON pass addition?

eheathIKON was a huge part of it, solitude had kind of a weird pass structure for years, they used to sell passes based on days so you paid per/day per/week so you could have a pass that only worked on monday and tuesday, but I think they did away with that a few years ago. I got my first pass to Solitude like 4 years ago and the lot would barely fill up on a big powder day, Brighton used to be less busy as well. But, growth in SLC and overall skiing growth + IKON pass just completely fucked up places like Solitude.

Trumpkin2020That sucks. I skied there 3 years ago and got the vibe that it's definitely a low key place. Same with Brighton. Even though it was a shit season for snow, I couldn't imagine it would be a place you'd have to fight for parking or wait in lift lines. To me solitude was a gem cuz all everyone talked about was Alta/Snowbird and Solitude seemed very underrated. Funny actually one of the reasons we chose to ski a day there was because it was more chill. I can't even imagine what Snowbird looks like now. Sheesh.

Trumpkin2020Op yes, I'd buy a pass if you're skiing major resorts. Today. With all the known reservation systems and hints of more, that could mean a season pass might be the only way you'll be able to ski without significant advance notice, depending on your resort and its traffic numbers. Some resorts have already stopped selling season passes to limit traffic (correct me if I'm wrong but JH already did right?). Weekdays might be fine but at bigger touristy resorts, that still might be an issue. Places in BFE that usually have powder stashes leftover from a week before will likely be fine and I wouldn't worry about not being able to ski there.
