Candide 3.0 or 4.0

I've only skied on the 4.0 and I absolutely fell in love with it. Stiff, poppy, and loose. I'd assume the 3.0 would be similar but perhaps more locked-in just because it is slightly narrower. That being said, the time I skied the 4.0 it wasn't the best snow conditions and it was pretty sketch on hard icy snow - but that's not why you ski a 118mm ski in the first place so it didn't bother me. I'd go 4.0 in a heartbeat.

The candide line got a make over this year, pretty sure the whole line got stiffened up a good bit. Might be something to think about too.

Yeah they discontinued the CT 4.0 this year.
I own the 5.0 (and tour with it) and used to own the 4.0, they updated the CT 3.0 last year with the idea of making a narrow 5.0, giving it the same flex pattern of the 5.0 and some vibes of the original 3.0 (both flat camber) but the new 3.0 has a bit of camber to give it some grip.
First of all they’re both great skis, maybe with the caveat of durability with the 3.0, I heard a lot of people breaking them (but apparently most have a good experience with the Faction warranty program).
To compare the 2 skis I wouldn’t pay much attention of the waist difference but more of the character difference, I think the updated 3.0 is a bit more fun and easy ski, suitable for most people, easy to pivot to turn (after I figured out the way of driving the 5.0 they became my favorite skis, with the flat camber and the long turning radius)
And I would describe the 4.0 as more of a charger (in comparison), still a fun ski but maybe a little bit more demanding on the legs. I remember this skis being at home on big open faces but kinda hating them in the trees.

Did you look at the updated Prodigy 4.0? Those have more rocker and seems to be a more surfy powder skis if that’s what you like, on paper the geometry of it makes me think of the JJs


Finally all of those ski aren’t super light to tour with, maybe check out the new Armada Whitewalker they seems to be pretty stiff like the Candides you’re looking at, while much lighter, again with comparable geometry to the JJs

You're gonna love em either way. But here's a bit more information. I skied that version of the 4.0 all year as a touring ski - mostly in deeper snow conditions. Was super fun and buttery, but in some circumstances found myself wishing there was a bit more stiffness (landing bigger airs got a little difficult with its soft tails).

The Candide 3.0 is a team favorite. It's my usual all-mountain ski across the resort, and I'll be making sure to add it to my touring fleet for this season. It's lightweight, a bit stiffer, and nimble, and a 112 waist is great for pow (the Prodigy 4.0 used to be 112 as well, and that was our go-to as athletes for BC powder). I like that it can translate over any condition well, from groomers to powder.

If you're looking for something bigger, check out the Prodigy 4.0. It's slightly heavier and wider, but definitely a pow crusher. They've bumped up the waist on it this season and I know athlete feedback has been great. These are a great option for shorter tours, bashing pillows, etc.

Too too this the 4 or 3 would be good the candies got a rework to them this year making them more of a stiff durable ski know if happened to the 1 and 2 don’t know about the 3 but in my opinion the prodigy’s are a little less soft but you Can go through shit a lot better it just power threw FYI I’ve ridden the Candide 2.0 for a season same with the prodigy 1.0

very true, the prodigy line is more stiff in general, making it more strong but a little less playfull than the CT, everything i have heard and expierenced is that the prodigys are better cause they are stronger, and are still very playfull because of their "surf zones". Imo the prodigys are the way to go
