I used to ski powder king in my days of living in the north, awsome snow, the manager is a dick, and the place could be awsome if the guy even liked skiing at all. The place has huge potentialif it wasnt in the middle of nowhere.
Has to be one of the more fucked up places I have ever skied. They are so disorganized, riding the chair scares me. (check out some of the sheaves on the way up) When there is no fresh the grooming makes the runs so scary. Skiing under those power lines lowers my sperm count. The chalet smells funny and is freezing. The cafeteria prices are absurd.
but... I wouldn't change a thing!
Such a neat place to ski. Its what skiing was like everywhere in North America before real estate was more important than snow. I just wish they had enough support to open mid-week then I could hit it up more.
The place is definately a little sketch, but if you go after a snowfall its golden. I would rather ski there than some of the resorts like Jasper, because its never crowded and they get so much snow. Where do you live Jetski, and do you ski PK alot?
Can't tell you where I live cause I'm a Ninja and must protect my identity. I do live within striking distance of P.k. with a long ass drive and I plan to make the trip at least once hopefully more. I found P.k. to be stupid busy for like two hours on a saturday but ya usually dead.
GP sweet I like your guys ramps. Wouldnt Jasper be like almost the same amount of driving and better skiing for pritty much the same price. Besides the fact that the snow at PK is uncomparable.
Fuckin' PK! Can't get a hold of anyone at the office. They are supposed to open in 2 days and the message says we are now closed for the 2004/05 season. Really professional group that runs that place.
I hope someone with some skiing/boarding passion gets to buy it one day and make it a reliable place to ski.
Last year the website said they were open on a friday for fist day of the season so we drove all the way and it was closed. Next day I talked to management and they really didn't care. Didn't even offer us a free coffee!
Mackenzie logging town is dead due to shutdown of mills I think my dad said.
He use to live up there in the cabin that's on there website and he's skied powder that was taller then him and he almost couldn't breath. /claim
If only a rich guy bot it like bill gates then it would be perfect.
