Handling a kink

More specifically, a kink between a downward-sloping section and a flat section, like this \_. I each total shit every time I try one, and even busted a ski on it last winter. Tips?

i think it's just about telling yourself you won't fall off - by that i mean when you get to tthe down kink part you just have to lean forward (or make it feel like you're leaning forward) quite a bit so you're perpindicular to the rail, but still have your feet flat on the rail.

but the amoutn you have to lean forward really makes it feel like you're about to fall off.

i sucked ass at rails, but at sms, yannik b (or whow ever u spell his name) gave me the best tip ever... ok when i used to rail i used to alwase fall back... so do most people i think, the reason is that your skies get to far infront of you... well the reason why the skies getr to far infont is because most people tilt both there skies TO THE SAME side(if u no what i mean) the trick is to make it like a triangel with your legs, if u spin right to get on the rail, tilt your rigth ski so the left hand edge is on the rail sliding, and tilt the left ski so also the right hand edge is n the rail... doing this it will be inposibl to let your skies get to far ahaid of u evan on kincks... lol sorry if it dosnt make sence

plz, for future reference, its skis not skies.. good tip though, sounds kinda weird but worth a try.

all you have to do is look at the end of the rail and you'll have it hopefully. and just really absorb the kink like a hell of a lot

If it's a really steep or angled kink you may be catching your front edge of yourlead ski when you hit the flat part. That would make you fall forwards. If your falling forwards then this is probably the case, so you should try just slightly stepping over the kink with your lead ski onto the flat part, so that rather than hitting the kink, your gliding just over it. (now I dont mean step right off the rail, I just mean take the pressure off of your front ski at the kink so it doesn't get caught.)

If your falling back, my best advice is to widen your stance on the rail, even if its ugly lookin', then develope more style later.

That's what I needed jibster... I've been catching the front edge and going forward. I'll try to 'step it up' a bit. hehehe... uh......

yeah but catching that front edge on an upkink is a bitch... tore the edge right out of my lines last year...

You know something that would really make me applaud? A guy gets stuck in quicksand, then sinks, then suddenly comes shooting out, riding on water skis. How do they do that?

No problem Kamikaze. I just hope it helps, cause I know the feeling of catching edge on a rail. Got a bad hipper and black and blue forearm from something similar last year.

just be light on your feet. thats all. shift your weight if it is a big kink, but the best way is to not go too fast or too slow, and be light on your feet.
