A girl who was working trail crew for sunshine got run over. She was riding on the back of the cat when it got into an uncontrolled roll back. She jumped off, but tripped and ended up under the track. She was messed up good, spent several months in the hospital, but 2 years later she was skiing again, though she has pretty bad brain damage.

At some past Olympics, I think it was Lillehammer (1994), the US bobsled team was taking a practice run and the German coach was on the track, somehow didn't know about it, he lost both of his legs.
