“SOUTH PAW a photo tribute to Marquette Mountain and its riders.
Summers suck unless you’re skiing! Seeing how I am not able to ski right now I thought what better to do with my free time then to gather up googles of pictures from Marquette Mountain. I hope this post works, and that all the eyes that see these photos think of this piece of information:
When I was young I would get permission at the end of the season to use a lifties shovel to build a booter. 5 years ago I had a dream come true! I was able to learn how to use the biggest shovel I could think of; the snow cat groomer. Not only was this fantasy coming to reality, holly hell I was getting paid too!
After 2 seasons of making snow and building the terrain park at Marquette Mtn, I perused and fallowed up on an online employment application for Mammoth. Lucky me, June Unbound was born that summer and they need cat drivers for June Unbound terrain park. I ran a ParkBully for the first half of the season in the park then I was able to transfer to Mammoth Unbound to learn to maintain half pipes with the pipedragon. I learned as much as I could and returned to Marquette to finish college at NMU (Northern Michigan University).
I have been back for 2 seasons going on 3, building park features with a west cost flavor. Finally some of the incredible stuff happening here at Marquette Mountain is becoming noticed. “The Best Park in the Midwest“(FREESKIER FEB- 04) and a park review in Freeze this October.
The biggest revelation is I have noticed that with the change in style and size of park features, the natural progression of the riders has amplified to younger riders going bigger with more style. To the bliss of progression I dedicate these photos and video clips.
