OK, I'll be judging the comp at Martock this Sunday. I hope most of you will attend as it will be a good show and the forecast is warm. I'd though I'd let you all know what we as judges are looking for from both the PROS and AMS.
For the PRO division we are looking for fluidity/style/difficulty. For fluidity --> if you come off a rail switch and revert back around that is not fluid. We like to see connection between tricks (ie. come off rail switch then do switch on or whatever). Style is VERY important. Thre jump as you all know is not big so don't throw shit you can't make look good. As far as difficulty goes I know most of you in PRO and will be looking for unat/natural stuff so don't shy away from that if you can do it, it will be worth $$$ especially on rails.....
For AMs just go out and show you stuff. I know some of the rails are burly but for first couple runs get confidence and do shit you know, then at least attempt the bigger stuff at the end and try to push yourselves.
Anyway I know there's been some shit going down about judge's this year so I'll try as best as I can to make it prime but there are 3 other judges who I don't know so well see how it goes......have fun....

The other judges are snowboarders so we'll make it work, i'm sure we'll agree on most things although it's gonna be a close comp...

you should let them know about like zero spins and unnaturel spins and cork 3's and 5s and how a 720 doesn't beat any of them.

Shaun, I gotta disagree with ya on that one...if it's a 'small' table...then seriously, a nice 5 or even an X'd up 7 would probly be WAY more difficult than a zero spin. I totaly respect zero spins, but not over baby booters. My girlfriend could probly throw that. Don't take me the wrong way here, just that there is a degree where a baby booter shouldn't have 'cork 3's' throw over it cause any damn kid could throw that. A cork 3 is supposed to be a big floaty trick, throwing it over a 20 footer could be hucking it. Just think of it from both sides...

As for the un-natural judgin', FUCING YEAH! About time people started to realize that in comps. I think the comp organizers should save one prize for biggest nut-ball attempt of the day.

As you explained the juding criteria...the only thought that arose was that I hope you don't judge fluidity at the same degree as style and difficulty. I mean everyone in this forum knows that a rail can just go wrong sometimes and you can milk it, but you won't come off your desired direction, not a big deal...I think you should really not consider it that much, or atleast add 'creativity' into the judging. If everyone is throwing switch corks, switch it up, if everyone is just doing the rail, disaster it.

Just my thoughts...good luck with the comp, sounds awesome...wish I could be there...

Id say that a zero spin could be a nice trick, it is hard but ive never seen a nice one done anywhere on the east. John has the best that ive seen but hes been handicaped by the size of the jumps. If you roll down the windows (like I do) in a zero spin, you suck, its that simple. unatural spins are also overated, I can spin either way and always have been able to. Anything cork just looks better and sure is harder to nail with style. I dont think I can make it to the comps this weekend but I will be hosting one on the 21st of March.
