Comp Ideas for coming events

Hey I somewhat included this into my post on Poleys Big Hit 2 post, but I'm goin to put it right in the open cause really I think this would be the best idea yet???
OK so we are all not keen on hucking and whatever and spinning to win, which has taking over the True East since I have moved here in 98'
so why don't we only try to have Slopestyle comps, ya even if are parks are small and shitty, we have enough pull are at hills to design something with 3hits and mandatory rails, yes u heard me mandatory!!! I think most kids aren't railing anymore, like whats up with that shit, last year thats what all the top names did here, no offence to anyone.
So yes lets go with these comp regulations even in big airs, as there is to be NO spins over lets start with 7's cause I know there aren't a lot of people who don't have the control to stomp a 540 over a 45ft table. Or if u want to be really down with this only 5's or like I said just switch take offs for once???
Ok give me your input on that idea, cause I think it would really showcase skiers in a whole new WAY!!!! 1

i'd disagree with the rail part of your statement. I find myself only going for rails and boxes etc, the hit it too unpredictable so i stay clear until a good night/day

This is sketchy topic. The fall of mogul skiing came when tricks were regulated and progression stopped. Newschoolers branched out from the sport for freedom away from FIS and whatnot to progress on there own. If a kid wants to huck, let him huck, but stuff like that should not win compititions.
In my opinion we should not even think about regulating tricks but rather have the compitition judges tell riders what they are looking for in the tricks (ie. style, amplitude etc...) before the comp so the riders know what they have to do to be successful. This way they can throw whatever they want but unless it's a clean/style/flow trick it will not win a comp. The point of freeskiing is to do whatever YOU want....BUT the sport in general is respected by big stylie tricks.....

Dyl-pickle likes lil' boys and squirrels...
Now that that's out in the open...hahahaha, hey dylan, if u need anything, gimme a shout soon...but again...
I do agree, no restrictions, and that judges should label what they are looking for, but then the judge would take flake for the kid who threw the 1080 not to win the comp...it's such a thin line...honestly...the only way to solve this topic simply put...DOWN WITH COMPS...they will forever exist...but why not just set up mad ass sessions...skiing, even on the east, needs to move out of the terrain park and into any drop we can find/urban/non inbound hits...

This is my idea for a perfect comp (big air). I think big airs should still be held as they are a huge part of skiing but they should be slightly modified. My view of a big air comp is a 2-3 hour jam session, not a rider judged jam session because that would be too hard but a jam session on one jump with three qualified judges. This way, people can show a variety of tricks and also work on that one massive technical air. With skiing going towards filming and furthering itself from competitions, I think this is the closest way to apply the style, variety of tricks and the ability to continuously try that one huge trick that filming allows. I think this way will show the most talented skier.
Sorry about the essay boys but that's what i'm thinkin

I dont believe in this regulating comps stuff at all..i got into this sport because it was the sport that you could do what u want when u want HOW u want..If some guy wants to go out and huck somethin he probly doesnt have the skills to stomp off a massive table and kill himself then let him,its his dumbass choice..thatll just be one less guy you dont have to nag at to stop hucking.Im ont triin to say i like to see guys get hurt, but most people wont listen to someone about not tryin shit outta there league until they hurt themselves doin it.

Daddy Mac hit that one dead one...pro's have been having 'jam session' comps for awhile now...generally some of the smaller comps of the year...
It discourages against the big huck to win theory, cause it's just one trick and besides, if you bail, then u can hurt yourself early on.
The downside of it though, Dave, it makes it hard as hell at a comp at a hill in Atln. Cdn. hill to judge who is who, the way to solve this is to do a name check before they drop in, this still gives way to slowing down the comp and riders sitting at the top of the hill trying to push and pull to try and get another hit in, as well as for the fact that someone who is aggressive could get 8 hits in, someone who is there just chillin' to be with his boys might only get 3 or 4...that's not too chill...

OKAY, well then for all you people out there who hate hucking then which seems to be all of you, why do you keep bashing others who are tryin to improve and go bigger than what we have seen here before, yet you wouldn't like to see a comp with a New Idea like no spins over 5's and mandatory rails in Slopestyle??? you don't make sense really...Yes I don't want ever to put regulations on a comp, this is freeskiing not Bumps(which I am happy to see new ideas in tricks being aloud makes it more exciting to watch)...but hey its a 'New Idea' for something to try...I think you would see a lot more style thats for damn sure and actully see peoples heads thinking on okay how can I incorperate a grab to tweak and slow it down in the air and look better...Really I just think we need bigger hits is all from keepin tryin to go bigger and huckin out shit, cause even on our baby tables u have to really set ur spin hard to do a cork 7 at times??? thats kinda huckin right
The Jam Session, yes it is a good idea for sure, but really I only see it working the best in big air...The Anti-Gravity Grail in 2001 was a jam session if I remember, only thing sucked is that we had to hike like 400ft everytime... ugh...still though I like them...
So heres my 2 cents on the whole thing...I think the people out there who don't like the whole idea of keeping the hucksters out yet get pissed when they win with a 1080 over a cork 7 then go suck a dick or tell the judges to know whats goin on...and to you who think the idea of having no spins over 5's is stupid go buy Royalty and tell me that is not the smoothest movie out there and I think where skiing should be now in ways...and to you who do not think RAILS should be part of slopestyle, then fuck off and go snowblade or something.
Seriously I think there is a lot dick sucking goin on in this forum and people get offended way to easily over shit...ya I'm a lil ticked off, but you know what fuck you too...this is why I hate riding somedays...ya I want to hear you all bitch all day long and talk shit on the forum, no get out and ride and make some friends, ski together, push each other, ski the trees when you can and just plain have some fun....FUCK
