This is a long shot, but torn ACLs are an unfortunately common ski injury, so I figure someone might be able to help:
My acl is torn, and I can't seem to catch any kind of break on getting a referal to an orthopaedic surgeon. Whistler's 'hospital' doctor referred me to 2 different people, one of whom couldn't take me, and the other didn't exist. I couldn't get anyone through Burnaby General Hospital. Simon Fraser University's varsity athletics medical contacts are refusing to help me. I don't have a family doctor out here, because I'm from Ontario, and I haven't found one who is willing to take me on as an out of province patient. I've gone through every channel I can think of to get a surgeon referral so I can get on the 6 month waiting list for surgery, and NOTHING has worked. If anyone has any idea of how I can go about this differently, or anything, even just a general recommendation for a particular surgeon, or if your mom/dad/assorted family member is a knee surgeon and would be willing to help me(yeah, right...) I'd be SUPER greateful for the help.
Anyone??? Thanks.
