My view on a few movies...

I haven't seen 12426937842999 yet, but I did watch RFA and I own volume video magazine #9.
First off, for anyone who hasn't bought a volume video, u'r missing out, I was a lil' hesitant at first, but they are awesome. Number 10 is out now.
As far as RFA goes, I'll say this for starters, Eric Iberg was ahead of his time, I own Royalty and Spun (spun is a 17 minute film made by iberg back in the day) and to see how films now are so inspired by his creativity is cool. So to all the haters who a few years ago said Royalty sucked (you know who you are) eat shit.
Eric Pollard puts together one of his best segments since Royalty. Peter Olenick kills it. Dumont has style pouring out of his ass. CR looks weak and his lanky body has to work hard to compact itself to look clean in the air.
I heard reference that Belanger's pipe segment was supposed to be the most ground breaking pipe footage to date, far from it. He has the same bag of tricks as he did two years ago. Who could argue that Steele's segment wasn't awesome. Shows a lil' more of his bag of tricks. The crash segment was shitty. Fuck, a single session with our crew and we could have made a better one.
All and all, volume #9 is better and shows the same stuff practically as far as photo shoots go. My 2 cents...the other 48 I'm sure will follow...

1242 is the best movie of the year, holy crapping fuck! JP Auclair's best segment since Propaganda or maybe degenerates. So good.
Forward is alright, but didn't hit me like Strike3. Strike3 was amazing.

I wasnt saying that Iberg directed any movies this year, just that he was ahead of his time with Royalty and Spun and that if you watch films today, they are a lot like Royalty, ergo, films like RFA have been inspired by the creativity of Iberg from bakndaday

Yes, he was certainly ahead of his time. Royalty was pretty fucking cool. I heard he and Tanner are working on a short movie for next year, it would be interesting to see what happens there.

I didnt hack on his segment...I wouldnt call it mad weak, but hes had the same style and same bag of tricks...I was dissapointed because I heard that it was GROUND BREAKING. Which it wasnt. Dylan, your a skier and as a skier you should know that not all pipes are created equal. It was in spring that he skied that pipe, hence, softer snow, ergo, slower in the pipe. Dont judge a pro by his air in the pipe. Secondly, it was a smaller pipe, not a super pipe like what the pros had for x-games.
I was expecting to see Belanger throwing innovative tricks. his alley-opp 7s definetly were a nice trick though.
Upon more watching, I found that Windsted has a problem, hes fucking sick as hell...it took a few watchings to realize which way he NATURALLY spins. Hes FLUID with his unnatural. Ive said it for a few years now that that is where the sport is progressing.

I know Belan and he was busted up last year at the Open when he was practicing the week before in Aspen at the X Games tring a 10. These guys get paid based on exposure so if they're hurt then they still have to ski...unlike hockey or baseball players who continue to get paid thay can't afford to just chill on the couch and wait for rehab to occur. He's an awsome guy with tons of style and without a doubt is one of the best pipe skiers in the world. WU

What I found with movies this year, some people had amazing segments, or at least were filmed a lot in more than one movie (Crichton, Steele) while others were just left in the cold... Rory Silva, Rory Bushfield, CR Johnson, John McMurray (though I hear he has a big seggie in Focused)

Companies sponsor films with the agreement that they will feature their riders...therefore if joe blow doesn't have a title sponsor for the movie he won't be featured regardless of how good he is. That's how guys break out...they get picked up by sponsors and sponsors request that they get a segment.

if creighton hadn't missed the winter from early january to april, he'd be beter than hall, he missed out on all the back country shit. i'm not dissing tanner, cause he's the best, but creighton would've killed.

Why isnt rex in any ski movies, the guy is SO sick!!! He was the winner of i think 2 snowjams in a row, and placed quite well in all big air comps this year.

Exactly how the Wu broke it down, his main sponsor is like Atomic right? They aren't exactly the biggest newschool company (reason Steele left was cause they told him straight to his face they won't progress their program). He definetly rips, has kinda a shitty attitude. On another note, Iannic B. might be in Freddy Beach sometime...who knows really...I chatted his gf's brother today at school and he was in town this summer, it'd be sick to throw out a session if he was around...
