This saturday is the 2nd slopestyle at Crystal Mountain this winter. This comp should be a huge step up from the one earlier this season and those in the past for a few reasons. First off, for the first time ever a ski shop is helping sponsor the comp. Don Orr ski shop of Traverse City is sponsering the skiers division for the competition which means no more crappy t-shirts for winning. Also the park should be a lot better than it was for the first comp due to alot more snow and even more rails. The competition will cost $20 to enter and there is a discount lift ticket available for competitors. Someone who went last time post that because I have no idea since I have a season pass. I do not know if there will be age divisions or not for the skiers. At the first comp of the year it was 18+ and 17 and younger. It ended up not being very even so maybe they will do something different this time, I dont really know.
As for the park, here is a general discription of what i believe it will be like, dont hold me to this. At the top of the park you will have the option of either a 20ft flat rail or a 15ft C-rail. You won't be able to do both at this comp like the last one because the C-rail was moved up the hill. After that you have 3 lines, on the far right is the 30ft rainbow, now on a bit of a table so it is easier to get on, followed by the trapezoid rail. Right now down the center of the park is one crappy table but for the comp that will be fixed, and maybe another table before it making 2 tables down the center of the hill. On the far left right now is the disaster rail, next to the table. We will probly add a flat rail somewhere up hill before the disaster rail. At the end of the park you will probly have the option for either the 22ft single kink, or another one of the flat rails. I am most likely going to be helping them set up the park so I will do what I can to make sure all the rails are skier friendly.
