I've pondered this question about marijuana for years, should marijuana be legal? We'll i say damn straight it should be legal, but that's only cause i party and its awesome. please write your comments on if it should be legal.

YES. look what prohibition did. it wouldnt change a whole lot to have pot legalized. you can buy it in stores where i live as it is, why not make it known and let em market it too. i dont smoke, and wouldnt either way, but it doesnt matter to me if its legal or not.

If pot became a social problem rather than a criminal problem we would save alot money for taxes and we could use that money for uuuuhhhhhh...... Weed which would cost alot less since selling it wouldnt entail so many risks. also maybe Truth would launch an add campaign against that and run out of money because of all the money their spending with their campaign and they would never bother us with those stupid commercials im going to start a rant about this in another post

i wish it would be, but it's not going to be. the only reason it isn't legal is because the government can't control it and put a tax on it, because it can be grown in your own home.

I agree and disagree. If you compare it to alcohol, weed is much easier to grow, you can grow it in your backyard, so the gov wouldn't be gettign shit in taxes because no one would buy fro mthem. Mass producing alcohol is very difficult, so its up to big companeis to make it, which is very trackable and taxable by the government. On the other hand, I don't see it as any worse than alcohol and as a result it should be legal. It is all very cofnusing and has probably been analysed a lot by the gov.

no. i find it would take away that risk factor if it was legal. it would become almost like a common thing, and wouldn't be as 'cool'. i enjoy smoking in privacy, and being kinda sneaky about it.

if you think our economy is suffering because of our attempts to ban marijuana, then you've got a whole lot more to think about then weed. it probably conists of less than one percent of our government spending. sadly enough, however, it seems like the more something is outlawed, the more people are liable to do it simply because of its rebellious nature. when something is legalized, the whole cool factor is no longer there, and we all know that half the kids out there smoke weed to be cool. so it seems like a bit of a conundrum that less people will smoke if it becomes more available to the public. my opinion, at least.

I havn't done weed, but I drink a lot, I think its the things people do and where people go while high and drunk. When high you kind of chill with your buddies and don't really go wild. Whne drinking you're at a party or bar or club and its pretty much an excuse to go wild. If drinkign was just somethign you would do at dinner or while watchign TV or just sittign around with your friends, it wouldn't be as bad either. Both mess with your mind. How 'bad' alcohol and weed are is dependant on what context you put them it.

only drawback is cancer in normal weed there are something like 300 cabcer causing chemicals where as tabaco only has one also unless your using a bong the smoke is alot hotter than tobaco smoke and that causes problems too.

I am a firm beleiver that a person is responsible in their own well being (or their parents if their too young) and the government regulating things is way out of their power. unfortunatly im one of the only people who think that

i wish weed was legal too. my friend just got put on probation for a year because they caught her with marijuana. she had to spend the night in jail and shit. she's only 17. it would be so much easier legal

there is a huuuge difference between decriminalization and legalization. and although canada is close to the first, we're still far from the second.

i would be down for either. it would make weed a LOT cheaper if it was legal, but also less potent. sure, people would still pay more for stuff with a higher thc content than gov't weed, but it would be a LOT more, which would pretty much stamp out weed dealing on an every day basis.

listen I am not arguing against Marijuana I mean I do it myself on ocasion but I am aware of the current studies and right now it is proven that weed causes cancer the same way that it is proven that smoking causes cancer. one day this might change. as I said before I beleive that people make their own decisions and I am all for that if you want to dissmiss everything in this post and go with the theory that weed does not cause cancer go ahead it doesnt change anything in my world.

if I get proven wrong thats great that means that I can start smoking more and not worry about it.

one thing is for sure if I get cancer because of weed or start smoking tobacco and get cancer , or get paralyzed from skiing you will not see me trying to lay blame on anyone otherthan myself (unless its due to faulty equipment or something like that)

I think it should be legal since booze and tobacco are legal, which are both worse for your body. Plus alcohol is more dangerous to the general public than weed. I don't think it should be allowed to be smoked indoors though. However i think that there should be stiff penalties for driving high and shit like that. Definitely can't let it get outta hand.

also other than the personal harms that weed can cause it would cause so much harm to companies. hemp has thousands of uses. you can make:
paper(constitution and other documents made of hemp)
clothing
food items (pasta, bread and others)

not only does it have all these uses it grows easily anywhere (although it needs alot of sun to make THC)

the economy would go crazy so many companies would go out of buisness due to the cheapness of Hemp and the superior quality. which lobyists for tons of companies will fight for.

in other words do to all of the changes that would have to take place it would be a huge suprise if it happened any time soon.

I dont think that making pot legal will make more people smoke it, if you wanna smoke weed you won't say no just because it's illegal anyways, so I think it should be legal because the government won't need to spend money trying to prohibit it and track down dealers, and its not any worse than alcohol, except that you cant really smoke but not get high(like you can drink but dont have to get drunk)

^ yes yes yes thats true, but i feel bad for being all secret, i've only done it twice but the second time i asked for 'lunch money' that went to help buy some weed and i feel really bad. Yeah i think weed should be legal but for me i still wouldn't be able to smoke it because i still live at home if it was avaliable to everyone fo every age i wouldn't be able to because my parents are already totally and complet;ley againist smoking ciggs as it is and i do that too and i just feel bad.

if it was made legal it would be for age 21 or at least age 18.

and as for secrecy being part of the experience in Amsterdam it has been decriminalized (not made legal, just not illegal)and its still fun.

but i mean, would they consider it being under the influence if you drove? how do they test you for being high if you get pulled over? i think it's a lot more complicated than alcohol and that's why they don't want to make it legal. some day it will be though. mark my words. hell you can quote me! im pro decrimilization but im against legalization unless we model our sytstem after the dutch. if pot becomes legal it will most likely become a controlled substance like alchohol and would suck balls, age restrictions would be in place which would also suck a ton. plus how am i gonna pay for college if i cant deal?

i think that if it was legalized, someone would come up with a way to make a mass-produced joint, and sell them just like cigarretes.

think about it, would you rather take a couple months of intense care for a plant and then get the buds, or walk down to the 7-11 and buy a pack of joints.

you can grow your own tobbacco too, but who does that?

and to the driving thing, i think that if they have resonable cause they should just do a sobriety test, thats what they do with alcohol even after you fail a breathalizer, because it adds to a case against you.

i really think that it has gotten almost to the point of what it was like during prohibition where it gives organized crime a huge source of income

the government doesnt want to legalize it at this point because they are afraid of looking like they lost the stupid 'war on drugs' and waisted a bunch of money and time, which is what they are doing

and i would urge anyone who thinks that marijuana is bad for your health to look at what alcohol does to you. and marijuana is not 'addictive' (smoking can become a habit) like alcohol and nicotine are.
