Replying to Laptops vs. PC's

aight im going off to university next year and i dunno if i should get a desktop PC or a laptop.

my campus wouldnt be wireless

things i would use it for
burning cd's and dvd's
running programs like photoshop, arcview, acid music
maybe gaming


laptops cost so much more compared to what u get in the system (1.6ghz latop vs. 3ghz pc, almost same price)

im just lost, any insight?
