Tip guard

I have seen some 1080's with a front tip guard but recent models of the 1080 don't seem to have them. Is this down to the edition of the ski? Are these good in protecting the end? Not sure what it would be called but in surfing it would be a nose guard.

it's a good idea. Keeps the ski from delaming. That or rivets in the tips like K2s have. I'm thinking of putting rivets in my Scratches because I know they like to delam.
