No crosses in Stereotype trailer

Anyone else notice this? I just thought it was interesting. There are a wide variety of jumps, grinds, pipe hits, etc but I saw almost no crosses in the entire trailer. Someone (crichton?) did a phils grab on a switch 10 but otherwise its all very progressive. Now go back and watch State of mind or Degen. or 13 and its all iron crosses with mutes and tails. Hell yes, its all about progression.

Good observation. Personally, I'm still a big fan of tail grabs and TOXICs, haha. But you're right, a lot more safety grabs + less movement under the feet = smoove.

umm, all grabs are cool. but how is not crossing 'better' or 'progressive' or something? one of the things i think is awesome about skiing compared to snowboarding is that your legs are not attached, and you can do cool shit like crossed up tailgrabs. Everything looks so different on skis, like, mutes, japans, tails, safetys. Every snowboard grab looks similar, except like 'roast beefs', and I'm not real big on boarding, so for all I know people might not really even do them outside of video games.

yea, u guess there isn't much crossing. i wouldn't really call it progression tho. it might just be that they don't wanna be tweakin the shit out of a toxic. a saftey grab = less motion = smoother........ so maybe it is progression actually.
and id like to say that candide's corked 5 (over the dinosaur gap) is the most amazingly smooth trick iv ever seen.

I like big spinning tail or mutes over safetys anyday, but I think that when somebody can huck off a huge jump and not move a muscle including their legs, it's pretty impressive. Like when Pollard does that 360 safety off a BC kicker in the stereotype teaser. It's no the coolest looking trick, but its wicked smooth and he doesn't flinch.

you dont see much crossing because the riders featured in the video dont cross as much because it isnt their style. The old boys, jf, jp, vinnie, ect, all the way up to the gang in the Game, all have the crossing style that came out of mogul skiing. Progression is happening in tricks and in style, and more recently grabs that dont involve crosses are being pushed harder because they are more recent. Just my 2 cents.

Dudes that wasnt the point of my post, I was just pointing out that there is more VARIETY. I love mutes, tails, toxics, whatever any kind of cross. I just think its cool more grabs are being incorporated. Shit, the day all skiers stop crossing their skis is the day skiing dies I think.

haha...yah, actually worth buying them now. I remember the first ski movie i bought was called 'burning winter' it was brutally boring, the only good part of it was trenton paynter and some kid skiing moguls to a face to face song and throwing daffy spreads and backflips. The rest of the movie was all slow-mo face shots to mellow music.
Crosses are rad...i think in the ski movie 3 trailer some guy does a flatspin something with a solid mute grab...it was so sick.

its harder to not cross your skis than to keep them in the exact same shoulder width parallel spot the whole time. this is how i try to do every trick i do, i think they look better. my opinion of course.

i think that the crossed grabs are all progressed as much as they can, not making them gay or anything just there are no more options, uncrossed grabs have not yet been completely explored yet thus providing progression. i think that is what this post was supposed to be about.\
