Should I replace my helmet?

So, I overshot a landing guinea pigging a big jump and knocked myself out. Luckily I was wearing a helmet. I've heard if you take a hard knock you should replace your helmet. Also, If I send my helmet back to the manufacture (red) will they replace it?

doubt that they would replace it, although a solid hit on the head does compromise the integrity of the helmet some. it compacts some of the foam, and might or might not crack it, so the recomendation that i hear is definatly to replace it after a solid hit.

check out ovo, they make some nice stuff and if you ever do knock yourself out and mess the helmet, they send you out a new one...pretty good policy if you ask me considering Giro barely gave me twenty dollars of credit for my broken flint.

what happens it is that if its a good helmet, it will absorb the schock so ur head doesnt absorb it (well not entirely) but if its not cracked ur probably good.
I like them short, I like them fat.

P.S. Dylhole, popping of cat tracks and seams in the snow from the groomer isn't really 'jumping', contrary to what you probably think. You can just stick to doing that, and you won't need a helmet. K, buddy?

even if it doesn't look like it was damaged at all you should still buy a new helmet because the foam compresses

^seriously, it can be impossible to tell if it has cracked inside. even if you can't get money back (which you prob won't) the money spent on a new helmet i guarantee will be worth it. head injuries just ain't worth the risk.

Dylhole, why don't I beat up your pussy up with my helmet.
Clearly anyone who puts down helmets doesn't ski hard. I'll be getting a new helmet, unfortunately not right away, but until then I figure my used one is better than nothing.

^okay, your right, and you ski with me often right?
i dont like helmets, i dont think they are necessary in the park, maybe in big mountain situations, but i dont own a helicopter, i see know reason to wear or own a helmet.
if you guys want to second guess your abilities and wear a helmet becuase you think you're gonna bump your head, go ahead. im confident in my skiing where i dont think i need one.

^how mistaken you are. I used to have the same attitude as you. I can see not wearing a helmet if you're just going to take it easy, stick to what you're comfortable with. I always wear a helmet though because I'm always pushing my limits and a helmet saved my brain once.
and more, much more than this, I did it my way

^^^And you know I'm a pussy cause we hang out so much huh. As far as skiing hard, I'm saying that if you're pushing your limits you're eventually going to make a mistake and take a hit. If you can't see the benefits of a helmet then you haven't taken any big hits, or are just too stupid or arrongant to recognize the need. I wasn't even trying a new trick, just a straight air guinea pig, A lapse of judgement and I was unconscious, but without a helmet it certainly would have been worse.
