r00kieThe whole colorado is libertarian us more myth than fact. Lots of government regulation, majority of land is government owned, state police will pull you over in civilian spec cars, more than a fair amount of gun laws, etc. You want more freedoms and less government in your life go to Wyoming or Idaho.
idaho and wyoming dont have 1/10th the economy/population colorado has. One of my freshman suitemates was from wyoming and he was a total loser. He was kind of like bode miller. Bigger ego than deserved, nothing that special or interesting about him.
If colorado was as barren as idaho and wyoming then drugs would probably be decriminalized there already. Colorado has a huge population to deal with.
as far as states go i dont think another state is even close to being as libertarian as colorado. Maine and california are basically socialist. Colorado is pretty right wing economically from what ive gathered. And the population (now especially) love drugs as much as hunter s thompson did.
do you think thompson would have had a shot at being elected as sheriff in any other state besides colorado?
He almost won the sheriff seat in aspen and probably would have if the anti drug losers didnt freak out and run a huge counter campaign to stop him from legalizing drugs once he became sheriff.
Anyways i think theres too many glaring examples of colorados endemic libertarianism to deny. Iirc ron pauls numbers were higher in colorado than any other state back in 08.
