Anyone ever start a ski club/group with the purpose of getting people into the sport?

I've been thinking about this for a couple years but never pulled the chain. After hearing/seeing how the sport has declined over the decades I've thought about starting a ski club at my work to bring people to the sport. One of the reasons is because no one I know skis. Another is the declining participation in the sport. Recruiting folks to ski will help sustain this sport for years to come and I think we all have a role to play in that. Think about how many of you had the idea to ski on your own or if someone asked you to try it. Obviously anyone is welcome and the goal would be to get people to affordably do this; difficult but possible.
This piggybacks off of the "minorities aren't welcome in skiing" subject. I personally can empathize with how funding and travel barriers impact one's ability to join this sport whether it be boarding or skiing.
So back to the post. Any tips? What suggestions can you make? What barriers did you encounter?
I have a little experience with starting stuff as I started a lax program at my college and dealt with all the barriers that it presented especially getting broke ass college kids to join and continue in the sport. I think that will help me in this but any suggestions are helpful.

Tried to start a ski club at my university, ended up being a once a year thing and is mostly international students who have never skied before or got in to it through this "club."

I was a leader for the ski club at my uni. Mostly people were looking for a ski bus. We had some movie premiers and I think it got some people excited about skiing. You should do it. I think it's hard to get people into the sport who didn't grow up with it, and this is a way to do it.

yes great idea I'm doing this but instead of an actual club I just take their donations and am never seen again

My school had one for years and years but it's slowly died over the last 10 years and now we only do one trip as opposed to the 5-6 we used to do per season. I'm never gonna discourage you but it may take more effort than you bargained for.

where do you work? I have thought about the same sort of thing but I am kinda selfish and just want to ski also what if they try to rope you into driving everybody? Seems like a lot of potential liability just to volunteer IDK
good for you if you get more people to ski though
