Why Is Everyone So Hateful?

Hey gang, I hope you're all doing well.
I've got a question for y'all: Why is everyone so mean to eachother on this website? I'm not the most active member and I haven't been around that long, but when I do contribute to threads all I see is hate amongst other members.
I'm here to ask, what gives guys? I know Covid-19 has turned this world upsidedown but that's not a reason to become hateful, espcially to strangers that share your passion.
Before you rip into a fellow NewSchooler about their preferred ski, binding, trick, or mountain... Take a deep breath, maybe several and think about what you're going to say, you could very easily make or break their day.

I think most of it is just trashing each other for fun because folks feel safe to do that in this community. There's a few trolls who are always negative and confrontational and a few that drifted over from 4chan.

I made a thread like this a year ago or so and while people agreed with me, they also mentioned that back in the heyday of Newschoolers the hate, beef, and overall craziness was far worse. Apparently this site is very tame now compared to in like 2013-2014 or so.
