Recommend me some Mid-layers

In the market for a extra layer on colder days. Most of my ski days are at MRG Vermont (lots of tree skiing/bumps), its usually pretty high output but its never extremely cold up here. Regular cotton hoodies end up getting super sweaty regardless. Mostly looking for something softshell-like that slides on and off easy. I also prefer pullovers, cant stand half zips/high collars.

Anybody got some recommendations? Thanks!

Cotton hoodies are terrible for any kind of technical use.

The quarter or half zip layers add a lot of functionality as mid layers, you can vent them and they're easy to get on an off that's why they're so popular.

These are game changers. So perfect as the mid layer on cold days.

Edit just reread your post.

Literally any synthetic quarter zip. If you're cash strapped, goodwill always has north face and columbia pullovers that are perfect for this. Can pull off and stuff in a pack if get too hot but if it's cold, that's never an issue. Polyester is what you want.

This sounds like what a kid who skis a slag pile in the midwest and is never further than about 100 yards from their car during a ski day would wear.

Seriously though OP...you should hit the lost and found at MRG I bet there are all kinds of expensive jackets, layers, gloves and hats. Pick up a pair of poles while you're there!

When you are worried about the "technical use" of your gear you should be concerned about how much you are obsessing over it. It's colder here in the Midwest than where you live so obv it works fine

You can obsesse over the knit pattern of your underwear but at the end of the day regular clothes work fine.

People not skiing park aka old people dont wanna get wet and cold. Also non-cotton layers fit better into their speaker backpacks.

not sure if this is a mid layer but I wear a Arc’teryx cerium under my shell jacket. Great for keeping warm and also good for everyday use

I ski in WA where it doesn't get too cold either, but I do run a light down vest from flylow on most days. I can run pretty hot once I get going, but do cool down just as quickly when I'm standing in lift lines and sitting on chairlifts. The vest strikes a good balance for me since there's no sleeves but insulation around the core.

Mons has some great stuff in terms of baselayer/midlayer stuff...their snorkel hoodie is great and i wore mine like every day

Just buy hunting fleece upper/lower cheap and durable and works aswell as any expensive tech gear
