There's gotta be some PTs or physio folks in here. I would assume that doing strength exercises on your neck would help you prevent getting whiplash if you take a bad fall? Not eliminate but reduce risk or severity of the injury.
Only reason I ask if cuz I got this shit twice last year but it's the first time it's ever happened to me. I'd been lazy for years and didn't do any neck exercises. In HS and college though that was routine to add neck to lifting days. I've been blindsided, clotheslined, and speared from behind so many times I can't count. Landed backwards tons of times in the same way that I got whiplash and never got it before. Hit way too many people leading with my head in a way sure to cause head and neck injuries, before that was a thing. I attribute this to my neck muscles being stronger then. Well this is just anecdotal and maybe common sense but figured I would ask and also let everyone know not to skip neck day. Yay! I'll report back on my first wipeout of the season, assuming I don't get a cervical dislocation or vertebral dissection first which btw are terrifying injuries to think about.
