Seriously though, like wtf is this shit? How is it any better or different than normal post format? Obviously instagram is just being a dick and trying to put tik tok under. Not that I care, tik tok sucks. But the reels seem pointless and excessive. Instagram seems to be trying to monopolize the social media world, even if it means adding useless features to their app. They did it with stories(going after snapchat), ig tv (youtube), now the reels? Fuck you Mark Zuckerberg, fucking ginger asshole.

Instagram / Facebook have literally no shame. I can't believe they keep getting away with blatantly ripping off other company's USPs. Stealing Snapchat's stories was madness. Also, does literally anyone, ANYONE, use facebook or messenger stories?? Why are you forcing stories everywhere?

That being said, Tiktok is one of the worst things to hit the entire human race in a long time, not just the internet. So I agree, reels are dumb as fuck and really not necessary, I haven't seen one person use it consistently yet.

I am hypocritical though, I should really delete my insta as I fucking hate the platform and the people that own it, but I really like the content, - mainly close friends and a few skiers & mtb'ers. I try to avoid as much spam as possible so the content is pretty tailored, minus the shitty advert every 3 posts.

Well, there is a mean spirit behind it. Taking another's idea, big or small, is stealing. Our decadent society has just normalized it, especially in the business world. Do the right thing, regardless of what other people are doing.

I think it's necessary to clarify that it's only wrong to take someone else's idea if you intend to make a profit with it. The lines are pretty blurred here, but I think in the instance described above it's wrong. Don't be like Mark Zuckerberg.

Whether taking someone's idea and using it is wrong really depends though. Obviously it's been a pattern throughout history, and building on other people's ideas is how progress is made. Usually the person who came up with the rudimentary concept of something is forgotten by history, and the person who makes a better version of it and markets it is remembered. People are honestly pretty shitty.

Pisses me off, I just avoid the explore page on insta now cuz its al bullshit I dont even like, all I need to see is from the people I follow, and even thats too much sometimes, need to do a page cleanse

The funny thing is, you see all of it on all the other platforms. Tiktoks trickle to instagram, then to youtube, then to facebook, youtube vids are on facebook, facebook clips go to tiktok and instagram, instagram gets stolen for tiktoks. You see one you see them all
