All-Mountain Twin Tips?

Hey all,

I’ve been looking for a pair of twin tips that’ll still work well on the rest of the mountain (groomers, trees, park) and through all kinds of conditions since i’m on the east coast. I’m 15 years old, 5’5” and about 110-115 pounds, so i’m pretty small so id want them to be on the lighter side too if possible. I’ve been skiing for about 7-8 years so I’m a fairly experienced skier however i’m still a bit of a newbie in the park scene. This past season I rode a pair of K2 Presses at 149 cm which were a little on the shorter side so I don’t believe I’d be able to get away with them next year. Every ski I’ve looked at seems to have some flaw. Looking to spend around $500 or less including bindings and hoping for the skis to last me for this season and the next, so I’d go with something a bit on the longer side since i’ll hopefully grow another 3ish inches or so before then. I’ve looked at a pair of 2020 Honey Badgers in a 166 (possibly a little too long to use this season), a used pair of 2019 Line Chronics in a 164 for a pretty good deal online (i don’t actually know much about the chronics so hopefully someone can help me here), and the 2021 bent chetler minis (seem like a bit more of a powder oriented ski but maybe i’m wrong here).

If anyone has any suggestions or advice I’d really love to hear it!

First of all, there is ton of options out there but I’m only gonna recommend a ski that I (and my friends) put ton of miles on.

Sounds like the Faction Candide 2.0 could be a good option for you, true twin tip that work all over the mountain, fun and easy ski, go pretty low in sizes.
For your height I think the 2.0 in 166 would actually be good, mounted on the Candide line.

(they’re on the higher end of your budget but at this time of the year you should be able to find a good deal on last season model)

Hey man, thanks for the response! I just took a look at those and they do seem like a good option, however i’m a bit concerned that 166 could be a bit too long as well as a 102 underfoot could be too wide. I don’t know anything about them in terms of weight but it seems like they could end up being a little on the heavier side for me but like I mentioned i’m not sure how the weight of those skis stack up to my other options. The Candide 1.0s seem a little more park oriented but 164 cm with 90 underfoot seems more like something I could handle without being concerned about weight

They’re pretty light skis, if you have any interest in doing/learning 180 and 360 the swing weight is low and it’s a great tool for it. Don’t worry about the weight.

I wouldn’t recommend the 1.0 if you’re not looking for a park ski. The 1.0 is not a skinnier 2.0, they’re different skis and the 2.0 are much easier and fun.

For the height it’s up to you man, but a true twin tip mounted on the candide line (fairly center) with tip and tail rocker it wouldn’t be ridiculous at all to get something at your height.

Regarding the 102 width, I understand you’re not used to that kind of width and it might feel unnecessary in the east cost, but they’re not a powder ski, they’re a fat all mountain park skis, so they do perform on groomers. I personally grew into loving having fatter skis like the 2.0 on groomers but that’s personal preference, try to read some reviews (the roofbox one here is good) and I’m sure some other people are gonna give their opinion too so you can make your own.

Get dollos. I have ridden them for 2 years now. I ski park, trees and groomers. Sometimes hike and do some unnamed trails too. They have served me so well. I do legit everything with those skis. The 98 under-foot also makes them nice if you get some snow overnight and get to ski a little boot deep powder. They're soft enough to butter but at the same time stiff enough to hit cliffs and big jumps with ease if youre into that kind of stuff.
Dollos are my recommendation without a doubt in my mind.

The skis you are looking at are not all mountain twins, they are flimsy noodle twin tips that don't ski the mtn well. Same for the edollos recommended in the comment above.

Get the Moment Wildcat 101 in a 164cm and come back to thank me later.



If that's not an option, get the Faction Candide or Prodigy 2.0's, or Automic Bentchetler 100, since you can probably find them cheaper. Since it sounds like you ski more mountain than park, these will fit your description way better, but still ski park well.

I dont know why ARVs got downvoted hard but the 96’s come in a 164 this year. Never skied them personally but they’re a very popular do it all east coast ski
