well that's not good cause I was thinking of slapping some griffins on there...
Honestly I feel like if I convert to pivot i'm going to tear my ACL on the first day. I know how markers release so if needed I can fall in a way that will release the bindings. Pivots, on the other hand, look like metal beartraps to me.

I put markers on everything.

the pivot's do have some awesome colors though, but for ease of adjustment, not so much

I'm so old I used to have pivots years ago, and.. well they came back so yeah

I probably have 20 jesters and 5 griffon per 1 pivot though...

I’ve had the same on3ps for 4 years now with the same marker griffon bindings. hasn’t caused me any issues but i will definitely put pivots on next time.

Actually MDV, the company that owns Marker, Dalbello, and Volkl, has included certain features in their skis and bindings to make it that consumers will get a subpar experience if they use a MDV product with another unrelated product, such as mounting Marker bindings on a pair of ON3Ps, or putting Pivots on a pair of Volkls. The mounting screws of Marker bindings, along with the mounting plate of the front toe piece, will compromise the integrity of of the ski, making the easier to break. Volkls have been designed to allow for this feature and they don't have the same problem.

I’ve torn 5 pairs of markers out of ON3P’s. I don’t think the screws line up with the mounting plate in ON3P’s. Nothing wrong with markers or ON3P’s, they just aren’t compatible in my experience. Attack 16’s are mad nice with ON3P’s though.

Besides race skis pretty much all bindings are designed to be used with any ski. If installed correctly markers won’t rip out easier, and they aren’t made just to be used with volkl. But I have found griffons to be less durable, prone to toe slop and has lots of plastic means not durable. I found other similarly priced bindings to last better. Pivots have multiple things people like about them, one of the big ones is that the 15 and 18 are mostly metal so they are super bombproof. If you don’t destroy ski equipment often use what you have it will most likely work great for you.

In my irrelevant, but experienced opinion, markers are not a strong binding in general. I personally would recommend a Tyrolia Attack 16 or Some Atomic bindings. Those will hold up to the abuse

I have been skiing mainly pivots since 2004 and ON3P's since 2010, something are just better together. Markers bindings develop a nice amount of play, in both toe and heel track. Attacks are a touch better but again from an engineering standpoint, still a weaker binding. I also find it very funny to see people recommend STH, when i know athletes that ski for Atomic and Salomon that won't touch those pieces of shit, and have to change contracts so they don't have to risk their life on sketchy binding. It all personal preference, you will find what works for your skiing; I am just going to be blunt after wasting time and money on other inferior product.

Marker bindings are like sloppy seconds, loose and just don’t feel right, will never buy another pair, they are cheap and rickety and I think they should blow bubbles when you ski like a fisher price toy

Can you elaborate on why you don’t like the STH? Plenty of pros ride them so I’m not sure what you’re talking about

Any ski can fit any binding, this is and old topic of who preffers what binding brand....

altough there are a couple of good binding companys, many people go for cheap binding on a good brand and expect to abuse them on the streets , bc or park.

if you see an experience skier in the park with marker griffon for example , he prob was short of money and did a bad call. Do you expect a plastic binding to hold abuse experienced skier? NO

same with other brand bindings, i only ski marker jester or jester pro, putting in pretty much all of ski brands In the market for the last 15+ years or so and never had any problem with it in the BC , park or street.

i think all good binding brands have top notch models and they for sure hold up. But for sure if you buy a cheap mid class model dont expect to hold up for long....

shinbangclanCan you put marker bindings on On3p skis?
I've only ever seen pivots on them. Are there legal/moral barriers against putting markers on them? Will the skis just dissolve into thin air if you don't use pivots?
In all seriousness does the marker's release system cooperate with the rocker of the ski?

Here’s a link to my Stormrider thread that has pics of my Stormriders with jesters, I’m not at a point in my life where I buy sub par equip nor am I at a point where they just talk to talk nor do I talk when I don’t know, also, I travel two hours to have my bindings mounted and adjusted yearly and do my own checks daily, they maintain 12 pairs of skis for me, all with no pre release issues or any other
im at work or id grab photos of my other skis with jesters so you know this is not a one time opinion

In my 30 years in skiing, marker, primarily griffons not jesters , are everything I stated in my previous post, and the jester does not offer anything that is not surpassed by attaak16 or pivot both which have a better on snow feel.

I didn't say they were metal beartraps, just that they looked like them. Never tried Pivots in my life, and I'm not confident about trying them just because I've been skiing markers for so long. The metal just seems more rigid and less forgiving. Not saying this is true, but if i'm not confident in my bindings I am more likely to be injured by them.

I don't use Pivots either. Personally, I'm partial to the Tyrolia Attack. However, the Pivot is a great binding, as long as you only own one Alpine boot. I was referring to the elasticity before release. People who tear their ACLs while using Pivots are the same people who ski way above their DIN rating, "because I don't want to come out"

Pivots are not bear traps, but they are finger traps, handling an Un mounted pivot is where your most likely to hurt yourself.

I get the thinking if your not confident in your bindings your gonna get hurt, but that’s not so, and I get you think you know how to fall for markers to release , that’s kinda universal, avoid backwards twisting falls and your gonna be ok. The pivot will only decrease likelihood of an injury due to increased elastic travel, better retention ability, and bomb proof design, if your that put off by metal, there’s the 14 which is plenty for most people

Forgot to mention that the Pivot does actually have somewhat of a front release. Anyone who has ever released from a pair and had the toe piece twist 90 degree, and attempt to put it back again with cold fingers, knows this all so well.

If you're so worried about toe release, get a Knee Binding.

haha yeah i was referencing squaw's fingers just as a little word play, at the time i was near the top of keyhole at alpine meadows and had no interest in getting back to the base with only one ski so that dude kicking it back in place was a huge relief haha
