Season rentals that aren't ridiculous

Municipal007tough to find a 5 or 6 month condo/apartment unless its in Tahoe or Summit Co, and i'm not looking for crowds. Any veterans have ideas about sneaky locations for a season in the backcountry? Might have to just eat the 12 month and go to Bozeman or Santa Fe.

You truly want to ski backcountry or just ski powder in bounds? If you really want BC, fuck the towns you said. Go to some little po-dunk spot that is surrounded by mountains. Try Lander,WY , Hamilton,MT, Driggs,ID, or maybe southern Colorado. If you want to move to a "mountain town" full of skiers you're gonna have to play the game like the rest of em. Rentals are impossible to find affordably, the leases are always a year, and you won't be in a nice place. It's fun tho if you don't car about being a dirtbag!

Santa Fe has a local resort that can get absolutely hammered with snow, had some of the deepest days of my life there, fun cliffs and jumps if you know where to go. No legit park...And taos is an hr and 40 min away for some legit steeps. The cost of living can be pretty high as there is a lot of retirees, but overall a nice place to live, good food. 3 plus good trail systems for mtn biking. No lines at Taos or Santa Fe on a powder day compared to summit county. Can be kinda a dead town though not great nightlife

Im doing the whole “it sucks don’t come here” bit. My best day last season was at Ski Santa Fe. Pretty much all my family lives there and not sure when the last time you visited was, but Ski Santa Fe gets WRECKED by tourists mostly from Texas. Like, the mountain is inaccessible when there is good snow. Lot fills up by like 9am and they don’t plan on expanding which means the locals HATE any visitors.

My brothers been having a super tough time cause he’s younger and everything legit closes no later than 9pm and there isn’t much of a social life in the town. Very odd place but I love it when I’m trying to get away from the big city...

The thing is all the Texans stay on the lower half of the mtn, leaving fresh snow for days on the upper half, the same thing with Taos. also for the parking lot thing, super easy to wake up half an hr earlier and have an empty parking lot. Or take the mtn shuttle.

driggs place for you. stanely would be better but gonna be harder to find a place to stay but in the middle of all the back country

The last two seasons I’ve been there, the crowd has been so bad that traffic is lined up from the bottom of bishops lodge from about 6:30 on and it’s mostly people who can’t get up the road making it impossible for everyone else. The shuttle is a good idea but it hasn’t even been an option the last couple of storms. Lines were so long there was no space on any of them.
