Evo epic fail

About a month ago I ordered some Meridians from @evo.com that we’re labeled as “used” with STH2 16’s which I figured meant they were demos.

Turns out, they had multiple pairs of this setup in stock and mailed me a pair with regular non-demo bindings set to a BSL they admittedly didn’t know.

That was odd in itself so I figured I’d take them to the shop and get them remounted to my bsl and as soon as the tech unscrewed them, he saw a top sheet shot from the drill bit where the jig came off.

On top of that, they used junior drill bits which didn’t go into the ski far enough. The skis should function just fine but I’m posting this to warn anyone considering buying “used” skis from Evo that there is a huge chance they fucked up the mount and don’t even know it. The customer service rep also assured me they mounted them correctly. I didn’t expect this from such a large retailer and was reminded of the positives of brick and mortar.

I wouldnt buy a pair of used skis for more than 50 bucks. Too big of a gamble plus they might be roasties like yours were.

Where do the used skis evo sells come from ?

ive emailed them before about skis they have in stock, and they couldn’t even tell me the bsl on skis they had mounted which should be known, marked and in the advertising when they’re taken in and put up for sale.

Powder7 is a much better place to get skis if your looking online, great customer service, people that actually ski work there , also you can get moment skis from http://www.momentskis.com or skiburger for their demos instead going thru a middle men that don’t know Dick

Dude that’s the thing. The customer support guy admitted they don’t know who mounted them or where because evo doesn’t mount in house. Theoretically, they could be just an employees set of used skis or something. They never gave me a concrete answer where they came from.

I brought up the same questions about why they didn’t advertise bsl etc when selling them and this is all I got...

Yah that’s all sketch. There was a time they advertised the bsl on their used skis, 2018ish, I remember cause I look all the friggin time
They are in the business of selling skis, they should know the particulars of the ski, or start making patties, Fuck even McDonald’s employees can tell me what’s on a burger so evo employees may not be qualified for that either

curious why they say evo doesn't mount in house? they have 3 retail stores all with multiple mounters/techs. their warehouse isn't that far from the seattle shop. my guess is it's probably a missmounted ski that that had to replace when the customer came in.

I think you hit the nail on the head. I figured they were mounted at a retail store but it makes even more sense that it’s just a fucked mount they don’t disclose when selling online.

I drive 1.5 hours just so I can have slopestyle mount my skis, does it take up most of my day? Absolutely. Am I ever going to another shop to get skis mounted? No way in hell.

They were on some holiday sale for $575

My work tosses everything Returned in the trash. That includes seemingly new Milwaukee drills and Fluke meters.

They used to give returns to employees but people made is stink is something they got free didn’t work and others made up a scheme to get returns by buying stuff then returning it.

I don’t think EVO should have gone as far as trashing all returns or not 100% new products. However, they should have done what amazon, Walmart, etc. does and bundle everything on pallets and liquidate it.

This kinda stuff hurts their reputation.

Its a bummer and hope it works out for you.

Given my nightmare experience with REI mounting causing jacked skis and only a free reimbursement of mounting fees, that’s not saying much.

They’re so nice and friendly, you can email them any question and they’ll answer.
They also price match online stores.
I emailed them about a Demo ski they had for sale, they said if I was unhappy they’d gladly take a return.
MXmxPowder7 is awesome and has great deals!

Never buy anything second hand without plenty of pictures and or knowing the history of the item. Evo is an excellent place to buy brand new gear but I would never buy anything used from them.
