YardSailLooking to take advantage of online sales going on right now however I am learning ski companies measure their skis differently. Specifically if anyone can tell me how K2, Armada or Faction measure the length of their skis that would be a huge help. This is my first time ordering skis online and I’m not trying to get myself into anything that doesn’t size up correctly, so if the short answer is to go to the local shop I can live with that. Thanks in advance for any help!
animatorSo for Armada and Faction, whatever the length ski is that you’re looking at, subtract 2cm from the number. I have a CT 1.0 and it’s 180cm long but sold as 182, a Prodigy 2.0 thats 175cm but sold as 177, and a CT 3.0 that’s 182cm but sold as 184. Armada is the same, I have an ARV 116 JJ UL (that name is AIDS to say holy shit) that’s 185 but measures 183. Some manufacturers will measure their skis BEFORE putting them in the press (like Armada and Faction), and some measure AFTER the press (ON3P, K2). K2 like I just mentioned are true to size, so a 184 is 184. Hope this helps! What sort of ski are you looking for?
YardSailYo, thanks! This is a lot of useful information... I'm looking for a ski that I can ride 50/50 All mountain/ Park so I'm definitely looking for some twin tips but I definitely don't do anything crazy haha. I'm six feet 180lbs and been riding the same skis for the last 9 years so if you have any recommendations definitely send em my way. I am way overdue.
animatorYou want something soft and flexible or stiffer for better versatility? I would say the K2 Reckoner 184 or the Armada ARV 106 188 would be good “soft options” that’ll hold up well in the park and they’re pretty standard as far as pricing goes. The ON3P Jeffrey 108 186 or Faction Prodigy 3.0 184 would be good options that are a little stiffer and more versatile. Any more questions let me know!
KevskiLooks like homie added that he’s in the northeast, so you could bump any of these down to their 102/96mm versions to be better on firmer snow with less need for float. All good choices.
ARV 96, Jeffrey 102 (or 96), Prodigy 2.0, Reckoner 102 (or poacher).
Worth adding Moment Wildcat 101 to the mix too. It’s an evolution of the PB&J and I know a couple homies who love them for low tide park/mountain days.
anders_aski length is like penis length or tinder length, and thoose girls with the pictures from 2012, all lies.
Also remember some ski short, some accurate, some long.
k2, armada, faction all has awesome stuff, so like other say, we need more info on what your looking for.
YardSailLol thats the damn truth! haha. I'm definitely leaning towards a smaller underfoot/ ski in general. Realized two days ago I was skiing a 90mm underfoot soooo I'm not tryna go with fat skis right off the bat. I been looking at Faction Prodigy 2.0 + The Armada ARV 96 variations. Looks like I cant go wrong with either of those choices it seems like. Gonna stay away from K2 as I've been riding that my whole life (Although they held up great) but definitely going to try some other brands. Also like to mention I do ski trees quite often and the longer skis for me is a death trap.
cheetocorkin my expeirence size doesnt mater a ton im 4 '9 and i wear the same ski somebody 10 or so years older (im 13)
