Like, at what point does a skis underfoot width get too wide to dig in and set a rotation in motion on the lip?
does a ski having rocker change the dynamics at all?

drumbumocdpI’m sure people go way fatter, but I really like my arv106’s on big booters
DolanReloadedAre you trolling me?
bc i bought the arv106 ti ltd2s last winter/spring and cant wait to try them out in the park. The 106 ti is essentially the same as the reg 106 from what ive read except its got titanium stringers and is a bit stiffer.
fucking viruses man. I cant wait to go skiing again
drumbumocdpNo Way, they’re my favorite skis. You can hike rails, hit jumps, cruise switch, shred pow... super hyped on the 106. Been thinking of getting a ti for all mountain

eheathEver heard of a snowboard dawg? A ski is never too wide to set a rotIt'
jcaMy favourite park skis were the old 122mm hellbents. If I were buying a pair, i'd probably go for the 100-110 range though.

SofaKingSickThe Ti denotes an alloy called titanal, not titanium

ChakaI used to ski OG ARGs (135mm) in the park occaisonally... it was terrifying but it mostly worked on smaller jumps and days that weren't icy. My favorite park skis were old Jp vs. Juliens (103mm) and Blends (100mm). 100-110 feels like a sweet spot of stability, wieght, and fun in the park.
DolanReloadedOh. My bad tnx gooby
SofaKingSickwtf is a gooby
DolanReloadedDamn. Didnt it feel hard to dig in your wdge to set a rotation? Could you take off switch without problems?
DolanReloadedBy “days that werrent icy” are you implying that the 135mm args slid around too much on the ice?
ChakaMostly, they drifted a ton and were really clunky on hardpack, especially when going straight. Softer conditions would help stabilize them a bit for landings or coming off of lips on jumps. They were also incredibly slow so there was only so much you could do on them.

jcaI tried to ride my Donner Partys in the park a couple times, it was... interesting..
SofaKingSickslow as in edge to edge?
DolanReloadedWhat is their waist width
jca140, reverse sidecut of 135-140-130.
DolanReloadedthe easiest way to set a rotation is to dig in the parabola of a normal parabolic ski.
eheath*reads a ski manufacturer catalog once
DolanReloadedEvan why would u think i would be that stupid to not know from exp why a parabolic ski turns more easily.
your handsomeness is going to your head Evan.
keep it real
SofaKingSickslow as in edge to edge?
ChakaNo, actual speed of the base. The first generation of ARGs had a famously sluggish base. They replaced it with one that was a little faster and added some sidewall in 08.
eheathNobody cares about nerdy ski terminology, it makes you look like a gaper.
DolanReloadedDude being a park skier and not knowing what parabolic shaped skis are is like being an mlb baseball player and not knowing their baseball bats are made of wood.
nice argument tho. Its cute.
SofaKingSicka [non sintered] base on a premium pair of skis
DolanReloaded
steezboxNot this shit again.
DolanReloadedHello, why dont you sit down over there and have a conversation with me about sintered bases....
steezboxDon't worry, all of NS knows more about sintered bases than they ever wanted because of you.
DolanReloadedGood. I would only feel bad if there wasnt a single person here who found anything i posted about ski base science interestIng. If that was indeed the case then i apologize.
i think at least some ppl found the info cool tho...

steezboxI mean, I really can't ever imagine caring even near to how much you do about it, but you probably know gear way more than I do. But you really were pushing your base science like a religion so I'm just giving you shit haha. All good man. I just buy gear that feels good and use it until it doesn't feel good anymore.
On topic, I've been able to throw JJ zeros (118mm) around in the park on jumps and actually have fun. But I would never specifically take them on a park only day. Rails? No thanks.
