I'm going to spend my entire next season (ACL Permitting) Exploring the Unknown Realm of Tactile Skiing. And I'll Produce a Video Project Documenting it.

For those of you that Don't know or can guess what Tactile Skiing is, it's Skiing by Feeling. Realistically it's a veryyyyy broad term. It could Embody all High-Level Forms of Skiing. But in this instance I'm using it to Describe a Type of Skiing I do that Requires/ Encourages Physically feeling the Snow & Features of Skiing as much as Possible. So much to the point that Typical Ski gear, (Ski Pants & Gloves), Can't and Won't Hold up to the Tactile Nature of the Style.

This entire Realm is Barely Touched. Honorable Mentions Would be Dollo, Bdog, Noah Albaladejo, KillaMuffin, Charlie Owens, and a few others. These Skier's Gave me the Idea and the Vision of Possibility. And from that point I've been able to Explore and Expand the Collective Consciousness in this Realm. But it Goes Deeper. Part of me Wonders if I'll be able to make it as Deep into this Realm as my Imagination Demands.

This Might be a Multi-Year Project. In One Season, Coming back from a Blown ACL, Will I really be able to explore this deeply? I Expect a Deep Learning Curve. The Fundamentals and Basics will Most Likely take a Whole Season. But I do already have a Semi-Solid Foundation. So We'll see.

This Right here tho, Will Engrave my Name into Skiing's History. This will be my Gift to the Culture. What I discover is Public Domain. So I eagerly Welcome a New Generation of Tactile Skiers. A Generation that the Culture has never seen before. Potentially So Pivotal that it May even change the Way Skis are Constructed. But until that day ARV106s are my Weapon of Choice.



So We'll See. This Goal is Very Ethereal. So We will see how it Truly Forms in Due Time. I mean who knows, Just Calling this the Beginning of an era, and facilitating it through small Insta Edits might be The Best Way. Or a Large Abstract Video Project at the End of the Season might be Best. We'll See.

I kind of get where you're coming from here. I typically spend a large amount of my ski season exploring the sweet feeling of razor sharp corduroy against my face after I faceplant for the 100th time trying tricks I'll never land

The Lions Club does a blind skier club at my hill, kinda sounds like the same thing so shout out to The Lions Club for being pioneers in the tactile skiing movement.

I would recommend taking some ski lessons, they help beginners learn the fundamentals of skiing quicker.

Sounds rad dude. I've always been interested in the physical nature of skiing and the relationship between the body and nature beyond just the contact between the skis and the snow. Having some gnarly crashes last season made me wonder: what would it look like if I had snow down my jacket and my ass was dragging down the trail all the way down the mountain instead of just when I ate shit? This type of next-level skiing is what we need in this time of stalled progression. I would encourage you to take some inspiration from many beginners who can be observed trying this and really feeling the snow with their whole body before being carried down the mountain in a sled. Big ups to you for doing this for the progression of skiing. I wish I could try myself, but I know I am nowhere near the necessary skill level. I guess I'll just spend next season upright on my skis instead.

My home mountain has a Blind skier program has well. I will tell you right now those guys have the biggest balls and my lifetime respect. They literally ski blind with a guy behind them yelling, "LEFT!" or "RIGHT!". We saw one dude miss a turn a plow into some safety fencing without even seeing it coming. He got untangled, shook himself off and went right back to making turns. I tried it with my buddies once to see what it was like and it was probably the scariest thing I have ever done. Its like free falling into total darkness. Mad props for being blind and saying, "Fuck it, im skiing anyway."

There’s a dude in the adaptive program at our mountain and he has a vest that says “blind” but skis by himself and he can actually rip some decent terrain. So gnarly to think about what he’s actually “seeing”

Explain some ideas of tricks because I dont know how (especially you, being somebody who values style more than anything) are going to make swerving around on the ground not look completely retarded. Maybe im just missing the whole concept but im genuinely confused.

Im sure you have some kind of idea because as of rn I can’t see how anything about this is going to revolutionize skiing except for the meme aspect of things

Im mean, unless you are sliding down the hill spinning on you back or something this isnt really new. Skiers have been doing hand drags and butters for decades. I mean, Leigh Powis was doing double hand drag Lincoln Loops years ago. That Grand Bizarre segment is still dope btw.

Nah.

I kinda understand but the whole feeling things when 95% of your body is covered is dumb. Feeling with your handing on snow/rails whatever is asking to get a finger ripped off.

Now if you back stepped a bit and instead of feeling shit with your hands you included your skis body and whatever else I get that. Using your skis as an extension of your self is a kinda cool idea but hands?
