I think that's some pretty interesting stuff, but I am a big nerd.
Also that last bit about groups dying off could be kinda terrifying. Imagine how many people thought they were the last human being on Earth after watching their whole tribe/family slowly die off. Maybe they found nirvanna

When I was visiting Jasper last winter,
my buddy and I stopped at the Hinton rail museum and the tour guide mentionned that there were caves near the Pocahontas mountain where paintings on cave wall were found made from the first wave of human travellers.
Sadly, this information was kept quiet in order to protect the site from vandals. The only information I was able to get was it dates from the end of the last glacial period, so it was high up, making it very dangerous to approach. Also, you have to cross the trans rockies railroad, which is illegal. Then its a 40-50 km trek through swampy terrain to the base of the mountain.
Still, it would be interesting to search for it...
