ChangeCashMoneyI just bought a 97 Dodge Dakota for pretty cheap, hoping I can keep it running long enough to last two or three winters. Anyone on here know much about camper shells, and where to look for them? I want to put one on my truck so I can sleep in it if I want but also I can keep my gear in the bed of the truck and not worry about it getting stolen because it’s locked in there. I don’t really mind buying a new one I suppose, but if I can find a used one cheap that would be rad.
mystery3In what part of the country do you live? Typically a brand new camper shell would probably exceed the cost of a 97 Dakota. Have you tried Craigslist, facebook market, etc.? I'd also suggest looking at Dakota forums...I'm sure they exist. Also may be helpful in cross referencing shells made to fit other trucks that may be usable for the Dakota.
BiffbarfDon't be afraid to check out cheapo/free shells off other trucks. I got one for my tacoma for free and it fit great but hung out over the tailgate about an inch or two. The fitment was hardly noticeable considering the fact that it was some shitty purple color and my truck was black lmao.
ChangeCashMoneyHell yeah, I’ll keep my eyes peeled. I’ve already got the two-tone thing going on a little, would be pretty sick to get a shell that’s an entirely different color.
