coronalol. dude barely had enough speed for that jump anyways. Kid was doing him a favour.
jermUnless you're prepared to show some calculations estimating the skiers speed in relation to the distance needed to clear this jump this is an incredibly ignorant comment to make.

coronaI've seen enough tiny park rats knuckle jumps to have a good idea of when someone is going to eat shit.
I'll bite anyways:
Dude is going about one ski length every 4 frames:
I don't care to spend time trying to figure out what skis those are (Volkl?), but he's barely larger than the 8 year old kid he pushed so I'm guessing somewhere between 160-170 cm. Video is 24 fps. Do the math and he's going about 9.5 m/s.
Hard to tell the jump angle, but it looks pretty mellow. Maybe 20 degrees.

Get your favourite projectile calculator that factors in drag (drag of a ski racer is ~0.73, I went with this even though baggy clothes will be far worse).
I used this calculator:
https://www.desmos.com/calculator/on4xzwtdwz
From best guesses on everything else (and not factoring in him slowing down on the takeoff) he's going to go about 6-7 meters.
Maybe 20 feet.
That jump looks no less than 25-30 feet to the knuckle. Dude is going to eat it.

jermThank you for biting. And for your thorough response.
I wouldn’t only argue against the knuckling because I’ve ridden these South Park jumps at mammoth and you would have to be a serious dolt to knuckle them. They were some of the most fun jumps I’ve ever hit.

DolanReloadedsays the guy who hasnt hit a jump in his life because he says, “im more of a rail guy” when in reality its bc he is terrified of getting air and the first and last time he hit a 10 ft kicker he wiped out and shit his pants.
“hurr durr dat kid wasnt go fast enuff hurr durr”
ur a fucking tool. Ppl need to either learn how to ski park or get the fuck out.
DolanReloadedat the point you judged his speed as 9.5 m/s is about the same height or higher than the lip of the kicker so he would either be going the same speed or a little faster at the lip of the takeoff.
DolanReloaded“Dolan enters”
at the point you judged his speed as 9.5 m/s is about the same height or higher than the lip of the kicker so he would either be going the same speed or a little faster at the lip of the takeoff. And 10.0 m/s is 22.5 mph which is pretty reasonable for a 25 ft kicker.
But seriously, i dont really trust your math because you used it to confirm what was just your eyeballed opinion and it would be hard for you to not massage the data to fit your earlier estimate.
also the amount you pump the takeoff and pop at the lip makes a big difference, and good skiers will do both which enable them to clear a longer distance with the same takeoff speed than if they didnt pump and pop. And judging by the flexibility of the skier with his turned head it seems reasonable that he could be athletic and a pretty good skier, so id wager he would have good takeoff mechanics.
and idk what skis hes using but sintered bases make a difference as well (sorry, i had to)
all in all i think its kind of ridiculous you think you can verifiably say this kid was on his way to casing the jump.
edit: also, upon eyeballing the footage again it seems to me that he had plenty of speed to clear that jump. Id say theres a high probability you are wrong in your original estimate and your data massaging is bullshit.

TheMailManThe only reason people respond to you Dolan is because you're autistic and we feel bad for you
animatorDolan is hilarious wtf are you talking about
richieskisHilariously autistic
coronaDolan hasn't learned about friction or drag. It's OK. Just like understanding ski bases and the economics of ski manufacturing, it's not for everyone.

DolanReloadedThats fine with me. Trust me, as far as give and take are concerned, the internet treats me much better than i treat the internet.
Whatever helps you sleep at night.
TheMailManthat just makes you sound like a pedophile
DolanReloadedWow, thats not like a stretch or anything.
if i was a pedophile though why would i be making love to your father everyday. Hes like not even close to a child. His sphincter is nice and tight though.
