My lil sis always snakes, hits the lips of rails, and doesn’t respect the flow and rotation of the park. She never listens when I try to explain it to her. Any advice?
Show her the Jack Stauss landing on little kid clip. Or one of the many other "standing in the wrong place and getting slammed" clips you can find on Jerry of the Day accounts and such. Even skatepark collisions between adults and children are good examples.
Once she sees that you can then relate being hit by a person to looking both ways before crossing the street or even something as simple as walking through a mall and keeping your eyes up so you don't run into people, benches, etc.
coronalol. dude barely had enough speed for that jump anyways. Kid was doing him a favour.
Unless you're prepared to show some calculations estimating the skiers speed in relation to the distance needed to clear this jump this is an incredibly ignorant comment to make.

kinda this. You gotta wait your turn sometimes, its a part of life. But also shit or get off the pot, meaning call your drop and be ready, dont fuck with your mittens or try to pick the right song to drop to. Dont mess the flow up. Also honestly, i dont think its a bad thing to skip a feature and close it off if the person before you falls so you can make sure the person doesnt get landed on. We've all had it happen to us and get super freaked out when it happens. Gotta make sure the features are clear to hit which means yeah youre gonna have to tell that newbie family on the knoll to move, but with courtesy. If theyre a dick then let them be just make sure the features clear and dont bother with the arguing.

Basically just respect the flow. Any decent park has a staging area for every feature or set of features. Go to the staging area, wait your turn, make sure the landing is clear (X for No, O for go). Also make sure to clear the landing area yourself or throw an X with your poles so others can see you need to pick up your shit.
If you want to spectate, stay on each side of the park near the ropes or in neutral areas not near any features.
Now, how to film in the park when you are hiking. That is a tricky one with a whole different set of rules.

I've seen enough tiny park rats knuckle jumps to have a good idea of when someone is going to eat shit.
I'll bite anyways:
Dude is going about one ski length every 4 frames:
I don't care to spend time trying to figure out what skis those are (Volkl?), but he's barely larger than the 8 year old kid he pushed so I'm guessing somewhere between 160-170 cm. Video is 24 fps. Do the math and he's going about 9.5 m/s.
Hard to tell the jump angle, but it looks pretty mellow. Maybe 20 degrees.
Get your favourite projectile calculator that factors in drag (drag of a ski racer is ~0.73, I went with this even though baggy clothes will be far worse).

As much as you're right, it doesn't look like that jump would hurt that bad to knuckle, especially since it's a shallower angle. If that guy had any strength, he'd have been fine. Source: I've prolly knuckled more jumps than not

From best guesses on everything else (and not factoring in him slowing down on the takeoff) he's going to go about 6-7 meters.
Maybe 20 feet.
That jump looks no less than 25-30 feet to the knuckle. Dude is going to eat it.

Thank you for biting. And for your thorough response.
I wouldn’t only argue against the knuckling because I’ve ridden these South Park jumps at mammoth and you would have to be a serious dolt to knuckle them. They were some of the most fun jumps I’ve ever hit.

Please don't use the word ignorant when you don't know what it really means
mattytruid say its generally cooler to fuckin ski around fools and land ur trick anyways. if u land on them then itll be a learning experience for both of you
Well said. If you land on some kid on the knuckle I bet they wont be standing there for very long anymore
coronalol. dude barely had enough speed for that jump anyways. Kid was doing him a favour.
says the guy who hasnt hit a jump in his life because he says, “im more of a rail guy” when in reality its bc he is terrified of getting air and the first and last time he hit a 10 ft kicker he wiped out and shit his pants.
“hurr durr dat kid wasnt go fast enuff hurr durr”
ur a fucking tool. Ppl need to either learn how to ski park or get the fuck out.

“Dolan enters”
at the point you judged his speed as 9.5 m/s is about the same height or higher than the lip of the kicker so he would either be going the same speed or a little faster at the lip of the takeoff. And 10.0 m/s is 22.5 mph which is pretty reasonable for a 25 ft kicker.
But seriously, i dont really trust your math because you used it to confirm what was just your eyeballed opinion and it would be hard for you to not massage the data to fit your earlier estimate.
also the amount you pump the takeoff and pop at the lip makes a big difference, and good skiers will do both which enable them to clear a longer distance with the same takeoff speed than if they didnt pump and pop. And judging by the flexibility of the skier with his turned head it seems reasonable that he could be athletic and a pretty good skier, so id wager he would have good takeoff mechanics.
and idk what skis hes using but sintered bases make a difference as well (sorry, i had to)
all in all i think its kind of ridiculous you think you can verifiably say this kid was on his way to casing the jump.
edit: also, upon eyeballing the footage again it seems to me that he had plenty of speed to clear that jump. Id say theres a high probability you are wrong in your original estimate and your data massaging is bullshit.

Mammoth does make some nice jumps.
but they have to. Without a good park the mammoth is about as fun as waiting at the mva

That clip still makes me sick. Yeah that kid was kinda of not in a good spot. But to be shoved he did not earn that. If I had seen that I would have obliterated that fucker. (The guy who shoved not the kid)

Little twerp from the video confirmed.
Source on me saying that I'm more of a rail guy? Doesn't sound like something I would say, given that I'm more of a jump guy.

Dolan hasn't learned about friction or drag. It's OK. Just like understanding ski bases and the economics of ski manufacturing, it's not for everyone.

The only reason people respond to you Dolan is because you're autistic and we feel bad for you

What is this friction and drag stuff you are talking about?
i have never heard of these terms.

Thats fine with me. Trust me, as far as give and take are concerned, the internet treats me much better than i treat the internet.

TheMailManthat just makes you sound like a pedophile
Wow, thats not like a stretch or anything.
if i was a pedophile though why would i be making love to your father everyday. Hes like not even close to a child. His sphincter is nice and tight though.
