BiffbarfBro, I'm not saying there's not obvious racist shit in the US. I'm saying there's obvious racist shit elsewhere too, especially in Australia in my experience. The US isn't unique in their faults. There's a difference between hating on the US and loving where you're from enough to want to make a difference. I feel like there's just a lot of hating from SUPER privileged white dudes who don't do anything about it, so I get heated about it. I'm sorry your experience in the US has been more negative as far as homophobia/bigorty is concerned compared to 'straya, I really wish that wasn't the case.
Edit: also this wasn't me seeing 'one person' being racist in australia. This was on australian government property. I wish you could have seen what I did. The most horrendous shit I've seen written scrawled on the walls and left up while they hosted our american unit. It wasn't an isolated incident my dude.

I get it, I'm just saying there's a ton of racist shit in this country. And more of the "You can git out" attitude than I've seen anywhere else in the world. Our geography is our biggest asset in defense but also kills us in a way. We're isolated, people don't go to other countries, people blindly assume every other country is a terrible shitshow and America is the best at everything. I'd say easily 1/3 of the country feels that way.
I'm not jumping on any bandwagon. Idk, I'm not a fan of the fuck America because it's trendy now people. Lets burn flags and stuff because we're in college.
I don't hate America, I just hate that we can't address any issues because we're already number 1 and perfect. I hate the bullshit xenophobia.
As far as America, there's plenty of great stuff and great people. I've helped a bunch of people plan road trips for when they visit the states. It's such a vast and varied landscape. It's pretty amazing. There are some awesome people here all over.
I'm just tired of America's bullshit, and the way it's almost a religion for many people here. I mean trumps platform was pretty much like "They took are jerbs! Let's send em back where they came! Build a wall! America free as fuck!". So it's not like it's just a few people scattered, a massive chunk of this country is totally shot.
When I was visiting the home town a year or two ago for the first time in a while. the last hour or so is pretty rural, the last 50 min is nothing but woods and a few houses occasionally. No cell service. There's a restaurant at the edge of the first "town" that borders my hometown. Roll back, in, first thing I see. Somebody changed the sign to say "No mexicans or n* allowed" Like sweet, Idk why I ever left. I don't think everyone is like that, but our "Yea Murica number one freedom" bullshit breeds that mentality.
Other than being white and born here, I don't think I'm "super privileged". I've figured it out enough where I'm doing a little better now, but plenty of times where I can barely or can't afford groceries, I haven't had health insurance in over 5 years, etc. Just because I'm on a skiing website doesn't mean my parents are rich. I never went hungry thanks to dollar store mac and cheese and other things, but we were broke. Doing just well enough and living in an area where we didn't really feel poor.
Saying "Fuck America" for no reason is dumb. But I'm critical as fuck because I want this country to actually be great instead of some horseshit facade. Instead of words and bs political slogans, lets actually make America great, or at least slightly less shitty. So much of this country is opposed to positive change it's almost funny. And that's why I was saying fuck this place. As a country we're just to ignorant and stubborn to fix things. We can blow up brown people in the name of freedom across the oceans, but people don't even have health care here at home. So yeah, America isn't terrible, but in terms of our attitude to what we've got, we're not that great, we're overrated as fuck, and I'd dip out if I could.
Eventually hoping that maybe eventually I'll be able to snag residency somewhere else. I'm sure we agree on a lot of thing, and probably disagree on quite a few as well, but that's just how I feel. PS: If you don't read this wall of text it won't hurt my feelings.
