BiffbarfImagine being over 14 and still hotboxing gondolas
Hot boxing the funi was a right of passage at Squaw.
We used to have a technique for getting a good car, though it would not work if it was super crowded. The last person in would do a semi-fall in the doorway, blocking it for just long enough to prevent those who wouldn't appreciate the smoke to end up in a different car. The fall needed to not be so severe that they would actually stop the funi.
I don't smoke when I ski, I have not for many years. I don't actually SMOKE weed very much these days, I prefer an edible although I don't do that when I ski.
Interestingly enough the last people I saw hotbox a gondi were in their 40's. It was at Mammoth, then got in and asked if we were cool with it.
I'm amazed to see people busting smokers in Colorado. I don't know if that happens in Tahoe or not, I moved away a long time ago. I heard about a Steamboat bust that got thrown out. In general hotboxing was done more during the week when I lived in the mountain, it's easier to get a car of people that are sympathetic. I remember one funi ride years ago where an older couple got it in with around 8 locals, two groups of 4 that wanted to smoke. We all just broke it out anyway. They didn't seem to mind.
