Is anyone getting followed by Erika on Instagram? She followed me and I have no clue why. I did comment on a lot of the cringeyskiers2 page so maybe she’s coming after me but I’m puzzled

mcswizzleAlright people, be nice. That family is definitely having a tough go right now so let's leave Erika Fagan outta this.
She's probably trying to understand the bizarre social media fed ski culture that her kids grew up on or trying to get a handle on how people in the ski world conduct themselves on instagram. It really doesn't matter what her reasoning is, she's not coming after anyone. Seriously, disparaging a woman you don't know because she follows you on insta is super whack.
sqeellicbicI agree. Hate on the twins as much as you want but their mom didn't do anything as far as I know.

freestyler540Thats what happens when parents dont do any parenting... you get the Fagan boys.
mcswizzleThe parents of any elite athlete have to essentially release their children to coaches, trainers, and various other people who's job entails developing top-level athletic talent but does not entail taking on the responsibility of a parent. In a lot of ways, you don't get to be a parent if your child is on track to be an elite athlete, and those kids don't have anywhere close to a normal, healthy upbringing.
That whole system is whack if you ask me, but for USA (or whichever country) to have Olympic champions families have to make absurd sacrifices. Putting kids though Olympic development programs is bad news a lot of the time. Look at USA gymnastics for an extreme example.

SavageBiffYa but there are so many Olympic level athletes that are not scumbags.....there’s more to it, maybe it’s DNA or unknown impact of parental and environmental stimulus on a newborn, grade school attended or what area one lives in, but one thing is clear, those fagan kids are and were racist , entitled self absorbed scum bags long before they were elite athletes stripped from their parents, likely bc their mothers a “Karen”
It must be different at the “elite” coaching level, so much business and large numbers of athletes with less time per individual bc in my experience coaches are quite involved in a students life as a role model, tutor and parental figure And most organizations expect their athletes to hold a standard, your a rep for who you work for after all, on the clock or not
All environmental , parental and social influence aside. If you don’t have a natural instinct to be kind, to not be racist , to stand against hate well your probably a pos and the fagans are a good example of this
mcswizzleI've worked as a tutor for "student-athletes" aspiring US ski team and some that were already on the US Ski Team. There are some good kids who just love skiing but know that school comes first. Close to a majority don't give a shit about school, their parents are minimally involved in their lives, and they assume they'll make it as a pro skier. The freeski world is particularly bad since the coaches (no offense to anyone) are often young and act more like cool older brother than parent. To ski all the time and get incredibly good, almost everyone cuts corners in academics and in life in general so they can get a bit more time on snow. Not trying to get into a nature nurture debate, all I'm saying having 12 year olds mainlining freeski culture and convincing them that their ability to cork is what matters most in the world is generally a bad deal
SavageBiffWell if your in that position... your in a great position to make a difference, tough as it may be, I was blessed with 3 kids that chose love and peace completely on their own, but I’ve seen the struggle.
