Are abec 5 and abec 7 bearings manufactured together and then sorted into groups that hold to the required tolerances?
This is actually an interesting question, but I would guess no. Perhaps the scrap of manufacturing a 9 will then be sold as a lesser quality but only if within spec of course.
Think about how many ball bearings they turn out every day, my money would be on that there's very specific tooling for each spec to minimize production time, scrap, and to maximize return.

Good to see you and dolan decided to not use google.
If you click the link I posted, you would find out that each different abec level has a certain level of tolerance and they are manufactured specifically to be at a certain level of tolerance. So the answer is they manufacture them separately, /thread.

Stoked that you think you just totally owned me. Dolan's asking about manufacturing processes. It is common knowledge that bearings are spec'd different depending on grade, he was just asking how they got that way. You response of 'because they are' shows a lack of mechanical aptitude and understanding of engineering principles. Stick to the video camera, champ.

I guess i misunderstood, you didn't have to be a cunt about it.

thanks for finding that out Eheath. I was asking bc i have ridden abec 5 and abec 7 flip hkd bearings and for some reason the abec 5 flips feel better and smoother. So i thought maybe the abec 7 have a smaller tolerance but are made in a shittier factory with a shittier manufacturing process than with the abec 5 flips.
thinking that i didnt know what abec rating signified is even stupider than not knowing what abec rating signifies. No shit sherlock of course i knew this.
but yeah thanks for answering the actual (accual) question i was asking
My guess would be different process or tooling. I doubt they'd test each bearing to see where it ended up. It would be more feasible to test a few in every batch to make sure they are within spec.

Even abec 3s are pretty damn tight. I wonder what bones true tolerances are bc they dont subscribe to the abec system. They try to act like the goodness of their bearings transcends the abec system. But i hear ppl say all the time “one of my bones reds was shitty” so maybe bones true abec rating is embarrassingly low. Like abec 1 or not even...
