PeteMahnNot sure which side it's from but he doesn't put out content besides insta which doesn't count for much when everything is filmed with an iphone and are just single shots. He put out 1 or 2 edits with Quan and that was all you ever saw of him. I would assume a brand like Spyder that's trying to make a comeback would want to see more than that.
air.bubbleCapeesh tho
JohnnyDopeSpider blows, and Ferdi is a G!
drwclrkFerdi was an integral part of our athlete team, and we're parting ways with the utmost respect for Ferdi his future. Sometimes, however, brands and athletes just grow apart. Our directions are on different paths and are headed towards different goals. We couldn't be more excited to see what Ferdi does next. He'll always have fans at Spyder 👍

drwclrkHonestly, there isn't much more to elaborate on. I'm not kidding when I say that we have our own goals, and Ferdi has his own goals.
You guys know–Spyder is a technical brand. We do some things well, other things not so well (we'll gladly admit that we're far from perfect). Our positioning resonates with some people and it doesn't resonate with others. It happen at all levels. We're headed one way and Ferdi is headed a different way. We're grateful for the time, insight, and impact Ferdi shared with us while he was on our program. He quite literally put us on the map. If nothing else, his energy and passion for skiing fueled our internal team to perform at our highest; it is a true mark of leadership on his behalf.
One of my favorite things about Ferdi is his "vision" (his words, hah. He often says "I have a vision" when you ask him what he's doing). He's always working on something, and I have never seen him do anything that isn't uniquely his own. He obsessively modifies everything in the best ways: he strips the Swoosh off of his Dunks and colors them with highlighters and paint pens; he bleaches and tie dyes his hoodies; he re-edits our video footage exactly the way he wants it to be; he makes his own pants; he makes his own bags; he makes his own CAPEESH woven labels and stitches them onto his goggle straps; and there's a million more examples. He's constantly tinkering and thinking and studying. He loves skateboarding and last summer we spent an entire night watching skate films and talking about how it was going to influence what would ultimately be the Mt Hood category launch film (the one Oliver Hoblitzelle shot/directed with Quan). Last year he asked if he could use his athlete budget for an Adobe subscription so he could teach himself to use Illustrator and Premier. A few months later he showed me a rough cut of CAPEESH and sent me an .Ai file of potential garment illustrations.
He's everything you want in an athlete, and that's why I honestly say that whatever he does next will be great. I can't wait to see what it is.
I'm not lying, there isn't any bad blood. Just different motivations. If I'm lucky, Ferdi will give me a buzz when he's in the States next year and I'll be glad to see him again.

GrandThingsIDK who you are but Spyder needs to pay you double whatever you're getting for actually understanding how to effectively manage a brand image.
I was ready to shit on Spyder before I read this post and now I'm even more hyped on both ya'll and Ferdi.
Newschoolers is sick.
drwclrkWhat’s up, I’m Drew. I’ve been at Spyder for 7(ish) years and I built Spyder FS with a coworker. Lots of credit to the good people at our office that have busted their asses for us along the way.
