Anyone thinking about deferring a semester?

Just got the official plan from my college last week for how to proceed in the fall. Seems like a pretty standard mix between online and in-person classes on campus until thanksgiving and then we head home and stay there for finals. Im headed into my junior year and with a lot of my friends deferring and a hefty set of rules and regulations about eating, parties, access to the gym etc. taking a semester off is becoming more appealing all the time. Could be a good opportunity to get a job somewhere cool/ live with some friends in a different part of the country and take all my classes online. Anyone else thinking along the same lines? Anything important I'm not considering?

This would be the semester to do it in my opinion. The 'college experience' is definitely gonna be different this semester and plus you'd probably be paying full price tuition to take half of your classes online pretty much

Yes or I would consider going to a cheaper college/community college. It’s going to be the same material and all online, might as well save some money. Just make sure the credits will transfer to your school/program

Got one year left and really want to move on from being a student so I'm gonna finish regardless. My school is doing primarily in person but profs have to provide and online equivalent for each course. Thought about staying here in Idaho and doing the online instead of going home for school but got friends I want to spend one more year with.

I took a semester off my Junior Year of College because I was scheduled to graduate early. I took a few online classes through a community college that were about 750 bucks each so I didn't go completely brain dead and travelled for 6 months. If you don't have the funds to travel, I'd recommend anyone take the time off if they can and explore something, whether its a country, a hobby, a sport etc...

If you're going for some kind of STEM degree and you need unrelated classes for breadth requirements or whatever, take them online at a community college if they transfer or at your actual school if they don't. Don't waste time.

Normally a bad idea. But right now with the online only nonsense its a great idea. And noone will question your decision down the road.
Just make sure you want to finish or go back as I'm sure its easy to forget about it and then in a couple years when you don't got shit going wish you had just stuck it out.

Also heading into my Junior year. My school (UMass Boston) is entirely online for the fall, so I'm just living at my parents house to save money and hopefully ski more. Probably gonna take like 3 or 4 online classes. Maybe I'll try to build a boat in my garage or something.

If you stick it out you will at least finish on time and good chance they will be way more lenient with deadlines and potential appeals etc.
Tru you will miss out on some of the traditional college experience but who knows when or if that will really return to the way it was. If you needed first or second year classes I would say community college for sure though
